Big Maxx Included Thermostat

Has anyone used the Mr Heater Big Maxx thermostat that is included with it from Princess Auto? Is it any good. It looks like I need to get new wire for it, as I beleive it is 4 wires instead of 2. Any advantage to this?

The 4 wire uses two to control the thermostat (terminals R (red) and W (white), one for fan control (terminal G ) and one for common (C). See the wiring diagram in your heaters owners manual.

Also, the manual mentions nothing about wire sizing.
