OK, so maybe not that BIG, but anyone have favorites in the >24mm category? I'd really like to find a good set of 24, 26, 30, 32, etc. particularly in 6pt. I'm really nervous about rounding fasteners this big...

I found the Beta 920A series but they're hard to get here and don't seem to be found in a set.

Relatedly, what about hex/allen sockets in that size? I haven't really found anything over 24mm, figure I can machine something but if someone knows of a set... I think Wright makes some but megabucks...

Something that big 12pt will work fine. But Armstrong goes up to 36mm. I have craftsman up to 32mm then it skips to 36mm

I got on a big kick for a bit, bought up through 36mm.

Grey Pneumatic is a good choice for big sockets.

I cheaped out and bought a mish mash of brands from Cripe dist, GearWrench, Allen, and my BIG 36mm combo wrench is a Northern Tool. For my use I didn't even bother with larger than 1/2" drive on sockets or impact rated as it will always be a breaker bar or big ratchet that I use them with.

Suppose you're right, I think I must've read too much marketing copy and assigned Flank-Drive or whatever to all 6-pt sockets...more flank, the better.
Still, something about the 6pt gives me more confidence...

All of my bigger metric stuff is Proto 12 point (up to 36mm) and I've never rounded a bolt with them.

As far as 24mm+ allen heads, there aren't a hell of a lot of options out there.

i dont have any metric sockets over 1/2" dr 32mm.

for the most part all my 3/4" dr std sockets are 12pt chrome.
have a few 6pt shallow impacts for specific applications
largest allen i need in 3/4" dr is a 19mm
3/4" dr impact socket and a loose SO 3/4 bit
same thing for my 17mm 3/4" dr

in over 25 years i've only broken 1 12pt chrome 3/4" dr socket but that took more work than it was worth :lol_hitti

Grey Pneumatic has an "add-on" set marketed for drive axles/spindle nuts that contains the 30,32,34,35 & 36 mm deep impact sockets.
GearWrench's 29 piece metric impact deep socket set goes from 8mm up to 36mm, including the often skipped 31mm socket; strangely their standard (shallow) impact socket set is only 25 pieces, missing the 27, 33, 34 & 35mm sockets. I don't know of anyone who makes a 1/2" drive socket larger than 36mm.

You linked a chrome socket so, I'm guessing you want chrome?

Proto offers shallow 1/2 drive chrome six point sockets in sizes 25-32mm without skipping a milimeter, 34 and 36mm. They don't offer chrome deep six point metric sockets.

Now if you want impact sockets, Proto offers 24-34mm without skipping, plus 36, 38, 41, and 46 mm in 1/2 drive shallow.
Deeps run up to 30 mm without skipping, plus 32-36. No 31mm deep or anything deep over 36mm in 1/2 drive. let your quest begin!!!

Epstein's have any more old Bonney 3/4" drive sockets? Otherwise maybe try Wright's (in 3/4")?

Yeah, I checked their site, nothing metric from Bonney that big, and Wright's are 12pt and not cheap...

At this point I'm looking at Proto - either in name from Zoro or guess from McMaster...

I've got 24 mm through 30 mm in 1/2 drive made by Stahwille at work. Apart from the 24, 27, and 30 they don't see much use. I have a Taiwanese 32, but I hardly ever use it. Larger than that I go up to 3/4, impact -- cheapest I can find.

On socket head bolts, I've never had to use anything larger than 19 mm or 3/4". Those sizes are easy to find. Never seen any bigger -- good luck...

I have Snap-on to 32 mm in shallow and deep.
I have some Snap-on 3/4" driev sockets I picked up for a couple of dollars each.

I have all my larger ones in proto in metric. My SAE set is all mixed brands. I never paid more than $6 for any socket up to 2"

I have SK, Wright, Williams, Snap-on Mac, Matco, Kal and Craftsman. I might have others.
I like my SK the best but they all do the job.

I have a 36mm in a hlaf inch drive but I have never used it.
If I had to buy new I think it would be Proto or Gray form Canada. I am not crazy about Wright tools and I own quite a few. They are all good. What do I know. As long as it does the job I don't care.
