Silver, It looks like your table is just a hair smaller than mine.. And your room is about 4 or 5 inches wider than mine.. But very cool :) Our offices are pretty dern close! Matter of fact, I am hoping to have time to replace my carpet with one similar to yours before I move in.

The actual slate is 7' long, 48" wide. The previous owner had his office up there but now it will be the game room/bar. I'm not really into the purple plastic pull colored paint on the walls and plan on changing that.

I vote for above the garage. If it is like mine (and most of my buddies), it really won't get near as much play as you are thinking. A lot of pool tables end up as a place to stack stuff! BTW, nice house!

Ok guys, we went back and laid out tape and tried playing invisible pool. It works ok!!

It will be a tight fit, with no room for the pinball table yet.... But all in good time. :)

Better plan for more than just ONE pinball machine. The darn things seem to multiply by themselves! Good luck on the gameroom! :rocker:

Unless you're a real pool junkie, sell the table... They're just big and awkward..
Kinda like a hot tub.. After you've had one you can do without it just fine.

I used to have an 8' table at my old house I used to rent. It was a split level house with a 2nd living room "downstairs" right off the garage. It was a perfect room for a pool table. It was about 20 ft X 15ft. I got that table for free from a friend who was upgrading to a 9' table. I spent $100 on new rubber bumpers and re-felting it and it was as good as new again. I was sad when I bought my house at couldn't bring it with me since I didn't have the room at my new house. Unfortunately my girlfriend at the time nixed the idea of putting it in the dining room of the new house. I sold it on craigslist for $100. :(

Ok here is the plan. Take a concrete saw, and cut out your floor in the garage, dig a huge hole, then put a scissor lift in there with a slab on it. Put table on top.

Now you have a table in your garage that you can put under ground. Oh yea make some sort of hole cover for when the table is done.

Easy. lol.

I think I saw that on one of the DIY Network shows. It was pretty cool, but I would think you'd have to re-level the table every time.

Man Cave or something like that. Yea very cool. I can't see why you would have to re-level. You make stop pins in the floor, or lift to press up against something stationary. You set / space those correctly, and you are golden.

I have an 8' table in my garage for the same reason. The basement in out new house was partially finished and the room was 1' too small on both length & width.

I got a really thick vinyl cover for it and it does a good job. I use it as a table or it will usually have car parts on it most of the time but when we want to shoot some pool I clear it off and pull off the cover.

When painting, I put a sheet of plastic over the vinyl cover and the table is just the right height for working.
How it usually looks:

My table was cheap though.

When I clean it up for shooting pool:

Good point. I hadn't thought of that.

I'm kind of happy that I no longer have a table at home though. I seem to get a lot more done around the house. I already play two hours a day, every day and 6 hours or so on Thursdays. If I had a good table at home again I'd never even make it out to the garage.

My table will actually get a LOT of use. My grandfather and I played a lot on that the last two years. I actually play quite a bit... And am fairly good. ;)

I am glad you guys like my house. I am planning to replace the carpet before the table gets there... Assuming they hurry up so I can close on time.

As for the pinball table, I plan on one real one and one digital pin all machine that will emulate most of the real tables. I have almost all the gear to build it already. It will have solinoids to simulate the feel of the kickers and bumpers, a digital tilt sensor, a 46" led LCD play field and a led LCD for the back pane as well. So when I load up say Adams Family or Simpsons pinball, the play field and back panel will be exact duplicates.

It will be sweet!

"For the record, my wife would let me put it anywhere I want. She is awesome. (and sittin right beside me)

It will be a tight fit"

Trying soo hard to not make an inappropriate comment but you are not making it easy.

I have a bad spot in my setup (luckily just one). Got a "Troubleshooter" stick for that spot, works great.

Good problem to have, nice place!

I'd put it in the upstairs office as well, if you can get it up there! Would need more pics, but moving a pool table up a stairway isn't trivial.

Yea, it is not shown in the pics, but the office has a door to the outside. It comes straight out at the back of the garage. So no worries there :) No stairwell involved.

Under no circumstances should your garage become the "pool table room", unless that was your intention when you first saw the garage.

Just WOW!!!! Can I just move into your garage?? Heck with my house!!!
This is actually my Barn. You should see the Shop!!!:shocking: Actually it is smaller warmer and cozier if you like lots of old parts ,cars, and equipment. Then we have the Garage, my wife has filled it and she uses the BB Convertible Vette for her bench!!!!! Another :shocking:

She uses the Vette as a Bench?!?!?!?!?!?! Eeeeeeeeeeeeep!

As the bread winner, I pay for it all! But at least she understands and loves my hobbies :)
Plus she is not really a shopper....Likes NASCAR, Football, Guns and Computers :)

Speaking of breadwinner... Uggg back to work.. My 4th day and I am already pretty deep into OT!!

They make some REALLY NICE dining table tops for pool tables. These tops anyone could be proud of in the dining room. It would be temporary until you expand the garage. We use our dining room 5 or 6 times a year.
Mine is in my den. When we remodeled the house, I removed a 28' wall between the den and the formal living room- that was only used Christmas day- and made a 36x28 den.

Mines in an outbuilding, complete with dartboard and bar. Needs a good makeover as we inherited it when we bought the house three months ago, plan is to go for an american diner theme complete with booth, jukebox and appropriate decoration, I already have a full size US traffic light to go in one corner, the bar needs a good overhaul, etc etc, its on the list but towards the bottom!

Very cool! I considered a diner motif in the garage... But I think I am going for a more eclectic 50's motif.. I have done a minor amount of checking.. And I think what I am going to do is have the slab poured adjacent to my current garage, this spring. Then I can start laying my block walls in my spare time.

That way, hopefully I can have my garage expanded by the next fall :)

We had a similar problem so we sold our pool table and dining room set and put the money toward this baby. Two birds, one stone and Robert's your father's brother!

I looked at those a couple years ago. Unfortunately, it would not solve our problem.. The table is sentimental, andour dining room is smaller than my Office :) But they sure are **** tables!!

How do they play, compared to a professional grade table?

They play great! No difference between the playability of this table and my top of the line Gandy table I owned previously. The downside is they do cost significantly more than a standard table. We rationalized the cost by telling ourselves this would be the last dining room table we buy.

Off topic, but 6th Gear....where did you get the Toyota in the front by the door? It looks like my old one.

You've got lots of land...Save your pennies and build a bigger garage and leave the pool table and pinball machine in your old garage. If you don't need the garage to make a living out of. Fill it up and delay your projects a bit until you get the bigger shed. or build a separate games room !
