Big Problem with Craftsman vintage scroll saw

Hi, I restored a Craftsman 12" Scroll Saw 103.21791 and ran into problems. First, there was a noise in the crankcase, though the saw cut a sliver of wood. I noticed that the belt pulley had slid outward, and kept doing that. Then things got quiet for a short while - and then the blade stopped moving. It seems that the set screw (18) in part 17 was not tight and it really scratched the end of shaft 47 as well as scoring the hole it fits in at the center of part 17. I sure hope that the part sheet I downloaded opens up or I'm going to look bad. I'm sure I wont find these parts but I'm wondering if a small amount of slop at the end of the shaft will kill it. I had to file it to get it out of the case. Any ideas about fixing the scoring in part 47?

Or, I can give up on it for now and see how the 18" Craftsman works. Too big for me, but my neighbor was going to scrap it and gave it to me.

is the scoring affecting the performance of the saw? can you shoot some pictures of the actual areas that are scored?
maybe it can be brazed up & turned

I can pull the belt pulley and shaft out 1/8" and I was wondering if that is normal.
My belt flops but I consider that a belt and motor issue.
I need a 3/16 - 24 x 1/4 slotted head cup point set screw that was missing one of the ears and skiddered into oblivion on the floor. I'm using something that threads but loosens up, and of course the blades, cutting band saw blades and ruining the blade chuck parts.
Not much help from me here but I know the frustration.

Hi, Sorry for the delay. Here are some pictures of the scoring where the shaft fits and the shaft. The right side of the shaft shows how the belt pulley moved despite the set screw and no belt alignment problems. The left side shows the damage that the loose set screw caused. I had to file that end to get it out of the case.
I should have taken a picture of the saw when I finished it. Now it's apart. So is the 1956 Delta table saw. I got it for $50 everything there - and found out that the arbor bearings and the Delco motor bearings were bad. Couldn't test it because the plug/wire were shot. Nothing is a bargain these days. FCPDave I'm happy you started this thread!
I knew I had work for this saw and while rummaging around found a 1957 CM power tool Catalog,
It must be later then the saw, the edit \ chucks / guides edit don't match. I'm learning.
Also found the missing set screw laying under the saws cutting table.
Thats after buying a pack of CM 6" 9 series blades.
Now just have set up the saw again.

I was able to find parts, in Wisconsin. The model no. for the parts 03-23150, a newer model I think, but the dimensions are right and the part no. on the eccentric is one digit off. Looks to be an improvement because the shaft is pressed in the eccentric instead of using a set screw (that came loose). There are other parts and I may be able to convert it to use pinless blades, though I am not really familiar with that. Any help on that?

Might look at putting an additional set screw in behind it as a lock.

I tried the pin type, cut one end and it pushed through the blade. The CM blades measure approximately 6+1/4 " overall with 5+1/8" of teeth. I think the problem I was having was the backing set screws in the chucks were out of line and then the blades tightened, (I'll have to read the instructions more carefully) and not using the hold down foot and when coming to the end of the cut the blade broke or pulled from the mounting. I'm back to using the band saw blades.
A $20 sump pump motor from the junk yard strapped to a board and a $20 belt gets the saw off the floor. Thinking of looking for a vintage pattern otherwise I see no other work for it here. It won't be parted out or sold
