I picked up one of these benches from Costco and liked it so much I bought a second one. I finally got some time to work on setting up one of the benches in the new garage, I liked Sandoval's idea of mounting the hardware organizer under the bench. Easier said than done:yet worth the effort. I mounted it a bit differently than did Sandoval.
I also added 1"X8"X8' pine backsplashes to both benches. Finished them with satin Varathane and the color match to the bench is spot-on. I fastened the backsplashes to the rear edge of the benches with long #10 SS self drilling fasteners after clamping them into position using bar clamps in two places. After they were fastened, I sealed the seam (crack between back board and bench) on the front face using clear caulking so that debris will not collect in the crack. Looks good IMO. Then I mounted two vises, the small bench grinder and now plan to add a bench mounted drill press onto this bench.
I also added a two-shelf wire rack for oils and lubes above this bench to have them handy.
The light above the bench is a twin, 8-foot, T8 fixture and is dedicated to this bench. Nice and bright without shadows. It is
off in this image.
Lastly-The power: I sourced a Plugmold that is rated at 20 amps (you'll not find these at big box stores) and it also has alternating circuits. There are two breakers servicing this power strip. Every other plug is on the opposite circuit. The duplex outlet below the bench is for plugging in a vaccum or a floor fan without having to run a cord over the bench top. The electrical quad box on the wall to the right of the bench has the light switch and a rotary switch for the ceiling fan. So far very happy with the set up.
