Well, gonna need one for the Ferrari section of my shop, and another for the Lamborghini section, since there's no other way to light up my multi-million dollar car collection... right?

Seeing that all i got now is a 10+ year old pickup truck, t5ho is as luxurious as it gets for me.

Look at the specs. CRI of 73+ meaning its crappy in the Color Rendering department. A decent fluorescent bulb will be up around 80 CRI if not a little better.

Smaller fixture draws 194 watts and produced 20,000 lumen. Double those numbersa and compare that with a 8 bulb T5HO fixture such as the I-Beam which draws a little over 400 watts and produces something in the 36K lumen range. The T5HO specs are not as good, but not far behind, and I'll bet they will come in much cheaper. LED for a lot of things just isn't here yet.

I don't know about you, but I don't spend a lot of time jumping on my lamps, driving my truck over them or otherwise not keeping them on the ceiling. LEDs cost per lumen is still too high to warrant replacing fluorescent.

I was going through a local salvage place and saw these big *** lights. The bulbs are bigger than cantaloupes. Probably cheaper than the LED but I imagine you'd need a fairly high ceiling!

Those are 1000-1500 watt floods, more likely 1500W MH, a bit too much for a shop. I have a 1000W MH outside my shop, but it's coming down when it's reroofed this year.

I'm actually somewhat familiar with these lights. The engineering really is top notch. the super strength is more of a side effect of using aluminum extrusions for a combined heat sink and chassis than an intended feature, but it's pretty nifty.

But they are for "high bay" applications. Unless you have 20-30 foot or higher ceilings, it'll be like having the sun in your garage.

I spoke to big *** yesterday . I am building house with 12 ft ceilings 4car . They said I could use one I'm each bay for &450 each . 5yr warranty. Now I am concerned that the 13 , 000 lumens might be too bright . Can we find anyone with experience using in a home garage setting

im sorry for the thread highjack. but anywho i got all 8 of my lights in. one of them was bad out of the box. there sending me another unit asap. but i got 2 lights hung up in my shop. i have 4 for the shop and this is only 2. the third bay light is going to stay like that because its just for security. but the lights i replaced were the green looking also. so this picture can show the difference. remember this is just 2 10,000 lumen lights in a 40'x30'x14'. the third bay is an 20'x30'x14.
