We moved into our new house the week after Thanksgiving (2024) and I had many "interior" (wife) projects that had to be completed before I could get to the garage. I've been working on it a few weeks and still have a ways to go. There is a lot of things to purge but at least it's under control. I'm ordering a garage shelf hoist to get a few big things out of the way. The lawn equipment will get moved to the shed when I build it in April. But I wanted to post a thread to document the progress.

Equipment:
New Age cabinet system
Flooring - Hybrid X Poly tiles
Lift - Atlas 9k baseplate (complete installation the week of 1/20)
DDM Garage High Lift Garage Door Kit
HVAC - Senville 24,000 BTU mini split (750 sq ft, 10'8" ceiling)
Craftsman wall cabinets (3)
Overhead shelving - hand built

I need to buy a new compressor at some point. I've had this Craftsman since 2002 but still does the job. In a month the clutter will be gone and it will be more presentable with room to work.

Last summer I replaced my 1984 Craftsman compressor. It still compresses just fine but several threads about tanks blowing up, and realizing I hadn't been exactly diligent about draining the tank, I started looking. First I looked at tanks. Well, heck a tank would be about $300 and wouldn't be a direct bolt-in. So that made $600 for a new Lowes Craftsman compressor make a lot more sense.

How do you like the hybrid X tiles?
They are probably like all polypropylene tiles that expand in the sun. Starting at 9 am, the sun encroaches in the garage about 6'. When the cars are in there, the front edge likes to buckle. One morning, I remove everything from the first 6' and the tiles expanded but laid flat. When installing the tiles, the tiles are cut 1/2" from the walls (and lift). This allows for expansion. Other than that, I really like them. I have a 42" US General toolbox (roller cabinet and top box) and it rolls across it fine, but not like a smooth concrete floor. I have me Harley on a Pitbull motorcycle lift. The bike is 800lbs with 3" wheels and rolls with some effort. It hasn't dented the tiles.

Overall I'm glad I got them. The perfect solution would be a professional application like Shark Coating, but that solution would be $8k-$9k for a 750sqft garage. I'll take my $1500 solution. It was very easy to install and I had so many other projects to get done in the new house, I didn't want a big one like coating the garage floor. I can beat the hell out of these and replace them as needed.
