BIL gave me his dad's compressor.

My BIL's sister is selling the family home and she nor her brother had any use or place to put this and he asked if I wanted it. The only stipulation is to take care of it. I naturally agreed and will do. The oil looks really good and it's spent its life inside the garage with light duties such as filling bicycle tires and beach balls. What compressor oil do you guys recommend? It is a C and C compressor made by the Around Corporation in Dallas TX.

Most compressors reccomed straight 30 weight non detergent oil if in doubt follow reccomendations for some newer cast iron compressor like a Quincy or puma
But from experience I have put any old **** oil in 50 + year old compressors and ran them many years w no prob but I didn't care about those units eiether I have one similar up north that I put waste oil in when I found it empty 20 years ago n haven't touched it yet it's prob 80 years old n I kno for sure that's all it got for oil in 40 years built 3 buildings with it and fill tires every month no problems honestly I wish it would give out I'd like a excuse to upgrade

Go to a compressor shop and buy the oil from them, most people will tell you 30 weight non-detergent oil

Thanks for all the replies. I got to run it before we unhooked it and loaded it up. It had no moisture in the tank and the filter was still in place. I'm going to give it a bath tomorrow and hook it up. He also gave me two "come alongs", air hoses, fittings and some hammers. I'll talk more pictures tomorrow.

Worked on compressors my whole life, 50+ years and 20wt non detergent automotive oil is ok, 30 wt is really too heavy for the winter. Whenever you use the term "weight" you immediately think automotive oil. Automotive oil is not the best. The best is ISO 46 hydraulic oil.
Now, ISO is not a brand but a term meaning " International Standards Organization". 46 is the viscosity. Industrial lubricants use the ISO designation. Mobil, She'll, chevron, all the major manufacturers make hydraulic oil.
Tractor supply or the like will have it.
