I've had really good results with Meguiar's NXT Metal Polysh (yes... that's the correct product spelling). It used to be readily available at most auto parts stores, but I have not seen them locally (Northern California) for some time now.

What exactly do you not like about the Mother's polish?

Simichrome is the old school wheel polish. It works well on aluminum. It is kind of hard to find around here, but I've gotten it at independent auto parts stores. A good assortment of buffs and a variable speed drill helps a lot.

Are these wheels bare aluminum, with no coating? Most wheels these days have a coating of some sort - powder coating, clearcoat, etc. - and if that's the case aluminum polish won't do you any good unless you strip that coating off first. If they are indeed bare metal, I think Simichrome best. Flitz is good, too.

Why buy a truck if it doesnt work?
Whay have a work truck that needs to be polished?

Last time I checked trucks were meant to be worked hard day in and day out. Like towing 10 tons of gravel or hauling a stack of 2x4s.

When its polished and does grocey runs its just not truck.

haha, my wheels are polished bare aluminum. My custom truck doesnt get worked, not even on grocery runs, because I have two. I've got a work truck too, but it still stays clean. If you spend a lot of money to have nice things, you tend to take care of them. I am into custom trucks, if you dont understand, or dont care to appreciate good hard work, there's no use worrying about why I need to polish my truck wheels.

As far as the Mothers stuff, I dont think it did much more than clean the wheels. I want something that's gonna get em bright!

My favorite is Flitz. They normally offer free sample packs on their website so you can give it a try. Like any metal polishing, there is never a 'done' point - you can always get more black out of aluminum.

I've tried P21S metal polish.
On bare alum. I've used Flitz with some decent results. If the alum. is far enough gone, I'd like something more serious :)

This is what the wheels look like... they just have a slight haze to em now, and each of em have a water spot where water sat and dried in the lips of em.

I dont need anything too serious, but i worked with the mothers for a while, and never got the spot out...

Simichrome or Flitz to get them into shape. Once they are in good shape, NeverDull works well to keep them looking nice and will leave a slight protective coating behind to keep them looking good. Check out a Harley shop for other options.

After you polish them, put a coat of carnuba (sp) wax on them- the paste kind in a tin can. That will help protect them longer.
I prefer the Mothers, followed by Blue Magic, then a coat of wax.

Wax?
Imagine the dust and **** that would attract if the alloy was on a car.

Waxing wheels, specially the inside of the wheels makes for easier cleaning, from my experience. A lot of it, depends on what type of wax is being used, as some waxes will wear out faster than others.

Mothers Billet works great if it's in good condition, it'll brighten up aluminum like nothing else I tried. works much better then NXT.

If you have mild oxidation Heavy Metal Polish Blue or medium oxidation Heavy Metal Polish Green works really fast on getting it bright again.

If you have heavy oxidation or pitting you might need to use 1500, 2500, 3000 grit sand paper to knock off the surface. Then polish back to a bright finish.

Blackfire all metal sealant will seal up the pores and help to keep them looking good.

I like Wenol. I used it on my motorcycle wheels for years. People used to ask me where I had them chromed. The stuff is amazing! It will wipe out water spots with ease. The first time my wheels were dull grey, and there was a significant difference in just a few minutes.

Kinda hard on the kid, aren't you?

there's no sense in being a smartass... i know i could put a lot of a decently expensive polish on and scrub my *** off, but I'm a firm believer in "work smarter, not harder" and I'm sure that there are polishes that will work better with less product and muscle.

Polish the wheels with whatever you want. All polishers have some sort of greasy stuff in them to keep the metal shiny for a while. When you get them looking good. wash them with dishwashing liquid then give them a good wash with a wax and grease remover. Then paint them with POR-15 Glisten. This stuff sticks to all polished metals. You'll only have to wash and wax them like the body work ( when you get that painted. primer ***** moisture and promotes rust ) As for the bloke that thinks trucks should be dirty and rough...it's probably the same with his tools, workshop and his quality of work. ha ha ha.

Here is the right stuff, the wheels seen are on the car for 18 years now. Car is not a garage or car show queen, is driven as intended.

A tip buy thick white sports socks Wally world. Put on like a glove, just dab the polish. Apply let it haze some and wipe. Make sure you wipe the wheel clean, no residue. The secret is to not put gobs of polish on the wheel, black is normal on the applicator (sock). Not a big learning curve..

One more this cleaner is PH balanced will not harm aluminum

A debt of gratitude is in order for the supportive string. I am likewise looking the great aluminum clean at a shabby cost. Would you as of now purchase a decent one, at that point please propose me a best one under $50.

After 8 years he has probably polished the wheels to nubs... Old thread guys...
And, just to throw my .02's in here, the White Diamond is the BEST polish for aluminum I have ever used. Get some, try it...

Nah, I used semichrome to get them polished up, had them clear coated, then sold that truck about 6 years ago... Who knows where those wheels are now.

Looking at my responses, though, I have grown up a bit in 8 years.

Simichrome has been my go-to metal polish for literally decades. That being said, I was given some White Diamond recently and although I have not used it much, it seems like it might be my new go-to. Nevr Dull is great for maintaining Nickle and Chrome.

@ Mark,

Went and found the White Diamond, took a look at it. Shook the bottle, did not need to open it. I knew the product, it is the best.

Speedway motors sold the same under another name. Used it for years,, few years back they discontinue it..... bummer.

So long story short very glad to find it again, thanks for the tip that is a very good find.

Simichrome

@ 3 bucks a tube you're getting ripped, metal-al is the same **** @ 5 bucks a can

@ Tommy you will find the White Diamond is easier to use, take less, cleans off quickly, leave no residue.

Does the job on SS also.
