Anyone know anything about this old Billings socket set? It says made in USA, it was my grandfathers.

I have the same or a similar set, except yours is in much nicer original condition.

I don't have a time period for you, as I am not a Billings expert. When cleaned and lubed, those ratchets are very smooth. I believe it is an adaptation of the Proto design, but I might be incorrect.

What kind of info are you looking for?

I was just looking for general info, where they good tools back in the day, what time frame is it from. I did clean and lube the ratchet and its pretty smooth for its age. Thanks for the info guys.

I picked up the big brother to your set at an estate sale a couple of weekends back. Most of it appears unused. Ratchet mechanism is tight and smooth as can be. A dab of S-K ratchet grease and it is ready for another 40-50 years.:thumbup:
