I just picked up a Tek-Motion kit off Amazon ($40) after I looked at the Sears kit and personally decided it comes from the same factory. There are no markings on the red box just a piece of paper with the contents of kit and a thank you note for purchase. Works as intended and happy with results.

After reading some of the Amazon reviews I'll hold out for the real thing. Talk of cheap drill bits and taps has me a little concerned. Much of that is likely user error. What really worries me is mention of the thread inserts being low quality.

TTBOMK all Heli-coils are stainless? Not sure these are? I'd hate to just install a wire that's gonna rust.

Either way thread repair is already a headache (although I find it kinda fun). I'm not gonna risk complicating it w cheap knock-offs.

The knockoffs are even cheaper at $32.99...

Though it's likely they're cheaper in more ways than one...

Probably not. I doubt that the knock off manufacturer went to the pains it would take to make the exact same looking product just because. What probably happened was that the factory in China that makes the Biltek ones finished a run of Biltek and produced another run of no-name using the same exact design to sell on the side.

That's kind of what I was thinking. Especially in a bad area
