Your problem is the height as you have probably figured out.

First, what about the metal dividers Vidmars are set up for?

Second, try kitchen stores. I have seen flatware bins that were seperate and would work great if you can find them.

Lastly, if you can't find what you are looking for in plastic, try cardboard boxes. I use them a lot and always wrap the outside with good tape to make them last longer.

Thanks, that looks like what I am after. I have the dividers, but some items I would like to be able to remove as a group instead of piece by piece.

Buy yourself a cheap sheet metal brake and bend up your own size. Once you get good with the fit braze the corners.

Some of us are mortals, with multiple Stanley boxes, with limited time in this universe... that is why some use Schaller boxes. Some of us have more limited time then others. ;)

Have at least 25 drawers with Schallers, about 35 drawers with Akrobins.

Forgot, even with Schaller or Akro bins use 2 -5 dividers to add drawer support, definitely 1 in the back of drawer so bins do not shift.

Lol, my problem is a lack of previously mentioned sheet metal skills. Those Schaller bins look pretty darn cheap compared to my destruction of sheet metal

I know they make stuff specifically for these cabinets but I thought I would share these. I bought these at HF for $2.99 each and installed one on each of our tire machines for valve caps and cores. They are actually very durable and the clear plastic lids are removable if going in a drawer. The inner contour of each compartment also lends itself well to scooping stuff out easily. One of the few HF items I can give a good grade. 8f2d1c866c856e277a39a025f7ff320c.jpg19074df371292378c6abd65b154a72f6.jpgI cut the latches so the lid would function as a dust cover without having to fiddle with latches. Just over 12" long, 4.5" deep and 2.5" tall w/ lid.

"Where can I find some long (8-12 inches) plastic bins that will fit in a 3 inch drawer on a Vidmar cabinet? "

The yellow HF bins look good. Schaller make 2" height bins for 3" draws, Akrobins I believe need a minimum 4", but not positive, they may have new models. It can be time consuming figuring out drawer layouts the first time, especially with Akrobins ( due to odd sizes). Schaller bins fit easily.

As to the other HF bins, I researched many different brand, issue with many is they do not fit proper in Vidmars or Lista drawers. Like 15 7/8 will not fit double in a 25 1/2" square drawer, you could fit 3, which fills the drawer a bit over half. Akrobins and Schaller can be fitted exact or maybe an inch or two short of filling a drawer.
