Every one knows Binford Tools was originally created for Home Improvement with Tim Allen. I was just watching Tim Allen's newest show "Last Man Standing" and saw a Binford Tools tool box in the garage. And, a Binford tool box also appeared in Toy Story, starring Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear. I think that's pretty cool.

I know they did try some binford tools. The guy that did my body work was involved in it and had a few. He had an adjustable with a hammer on one side of the head.

I have a Tim Allen wrench here somewhere. I will try to dig it up and post a pic.

I always thought the Bynford brand in Canada was a play on the Binford from Home Improvement. Anyone from Canada know anything about Bynford and their history?

I was under the impression that Bynford is a house brand of KMS Tools, the stuff is the same that you guys buy as US General. Only we get to pay 3-4 prices for it.

From a quick Google search:

The Binford name was inspired by John H. Binford from Van Nuys, California who attended Van Nuys High School with a writer of Home Improvement.

Get your very own Binford T-Shirt here for $6.00

I'd love a big sticker of the Binford logo to slap on the top of my US General cart.

The large Binford sign is attached to the inside top cover of that my U.S. General tool box. I got it on ebay from a signmaker in central California. I also bought the small stickers from them and replaced the U.S. General badges with them.

It was Alpine Signs in Bishop, CA and they are still listing one available

Doesn't everyone have one of these?????

That's awesome!

Also learned the other day that Tim Allen got busted for trafficking cocaine and ratted on other dealers to avoid getting a life sentence. I'm glad he did cause I absolutely loved Home Improvement growing up

To be fair it was in 1978 when he was 25 years old. He spent 2 years in jail.

I would love to have his car collection!

We started watching Last Man Standing (Netflix) last week. Pretty cool show. He has 3 beautiful daughters and a beautiful wife (Nancy Travis), so he's the only guy in the house.

There are lots of references to Home Improvement in LMS. The episode where Patricia Richardson guest stars as their neighbor is classic. Her husband just passed away and when she describes him, she's talking about Tim. Talks about his obsession with more power. Haha

Yep, and a couple of other cast members from Home Improvement (Jonathan Taylor Thomas and Richard Karn) have also made guest appearances. Jay Leno has been on a few episodes and even Mike Rowe has made an appearance. Since Tim is the executive producer, I guess its easy for him to have his old colleagues make appearances on the show.

As a Tim Allen fan (and TV junkie), I've been watching LMS from day one. It's an excellent family show and I highly recommend it. They are currently on season six, so you have a lot of catching up to do!

One of the funniest things on Last Man Standing is when he sees his old family from Home Improvement and he gives them a funny look and they reference Tim Taylor and all his accidents. Then when he first saw Jonathan Taylor Thomas he said "how you doing son?" and says "I don't know why, but it just feels right".

Tim Allen should invest in an actual Binford Tools. That would be sweet. He's all about being American and USA made. And now that Last Man Standing has been cancelled...

I'm pretty sure I remember Mike Baxter had a Binford tool box in hand in an episode of LMS.

The "Binford" logo was also tattooed prominently on the shoulder of the tattoo artist in the episode where Mike Baxter's wife is getting a tattoo. Some of you guys with better Google-foo than me can probably find a screen shot.

Edit: Found it.

I never caught that one! LOL!! I know they had a Binford chainsaw on the show once too.
I've often thought about getting some real metal Binford badges made up to put on my HF box, and of course to sell a few too. Then again, I'm too lazy to research to see if someone copyrighted the name.
Apparently there is a big stink being made over cancelling LMS and it being nothing more than politically motivated since ratings were much higher than some of the shows they kept. I'm talking about organized boycotts of network advertisers until they bring it back.

Link damnit! Link!!

Found it. Wish it didn't have the holes. Hmmm, maybe some fake bolt heads? That's just a flat plate. I'm talking more along the lines of the Snap On logos.

So I was thinking about Binford tools. Where do you think they would rank on the tool scale?

If 10 is tool truck brands and 5 is Harbor Freight...anything below 5 isn't worth talking about. Where would Binford be?

I loved Wilson the neighbour and that you only ever saw the top of his head.

One of my favourite American TV shows (next to Married with Children)

Not Binford, and not quite Bynford, but I have a set of Binferd's, acquired from a flea market a few years ago. No idea who made them or where they were made. Craftsman shown for comparison.

I recently made a Snap-on tool truck birdhouse for the current driver. He retired after 40+ years and I thought he'd get a kick out of it. I was thinking about Binford Tools and thought I'd make a tool truck birdhouse in that theme. I put SS stripes on it and it has two compartments. I should have gutted one of my son's toy trucks with the buttons that make engine sounds when pressed. Still have a little bit to finish, but so far I'm liking it.
