I need to rebuild my 1986 Bishoman BS-55 pallet jack. I got it cheap because it wouldn't lift, and I had a local guy "rebuild" it for $25. Needless to say, his $25 rebuild didn't fix it. I ordered a rebuild kit for it. Has anyone rebuilt one of these before? Any tips or tricks I need to know? I've rebuilt some floor jacks--a Hein Werner WS and a Green Sears Japanese jack before. So I'm somewhat familiar with hydraulic jacks. All comments or questions welcome.

I purged the air multiple times as per the Bishamon tech support: Depress the release valve manually and pump the handle 20 times. Did that several times.

Symptoms: With no load, it did go up when first rebuilt last week. But at times when I would push the handle down to pump, there was a lot of fluid resistance, then little resistance for a couple of pumps, then lots of fluid resistance. Today I finally got a load on it--700 pounds--and it wouldn't go up at all. The fact that there is occasionally a lot of fluid resistance with no load or with a load seems to me to indicate something is blocking the correct fluid path, somewhere. The guy who rebuilt it runs a hardware/rental store. I think he rushed the job, and he didn't charge me for a parts kit--just for the rebuild.
