Bits for round nuts? Or stubby round nut driver?

I never seem to find tools for round nuts. I finally found some from PB Swiss, but I have an application that needs either a stubby round nut driver or a 1/4" bit that I could put in a stubby handle I have. Anybody know of a source?

I can't think of a bit that would work. Maybe a mini strap wrench?
What's the application on these? Or are they machinable intended?

Older Mercedes gloveboxes use them to secure the lid. I have no idea why they did this. I always use two flatheads, but it turns the nuts into one-time-use items because it mars the finish. The position of the screw is such that when the lid is open, the nuts are far in enough that you can't approach them straight from above because of dashboard is in the way.

Pound a a turbo socket on to them and replace them with pan head allens? Why on earth would any one make a round fastener?

It's called a round nut, but it has two slots in the top, so it's not truly round. In this instance it's used because there's no clearance around it. I just wonder why they didn't instead put a welded nut onto the side you can't see/access (instead there is a bolt where you can't see/access and you screw the nut on).
