Ive had this B&D drill driver for about 7 years.

I've don't think I ever liked it.

Always seemed like the battery run time was too short. Never seemed to have enough power or torque. Battery died maybe 5 years ago, and I've kept it around anyway.

Of all things, I was walking in my HD and found that they still make batteries for it. So I dug it up from the back corner of the garage.

I was about to list it cheap on CL, but since this was a tool my fiancée (now wife) bought back then, she says why not put $27 into a new battery and use it again?

Uh. Hm... Anyone have a better experience with this tool? Should I give it a second chance?

Year ago, Black and Decker was decent stuff. Nowadays, it is cheap low quality gimmicky stuff.

I have one of these. I don't use it much, but it can be a godsend for getting into tight places.

I recently bought the PS11 for similar situations that need drilling or something other than a 1/4 hex bit. It's nice, but it suffers from a fatal design flaw. After little use, I noticed I could not get the chuck to lock in the fully straight (axial) position. I'd have to force it, and it would not lock properly in most cases. I took the tool apart to investigate the cause, and I found the little ribbon cable that connects to the LED light in the swiveling chuck head was getting pinched in the mechanism. There is no room for this cable to reliably move or retract out of the way no matter how it's positioned in the case. I managed to bend it such that it was mostly out of the way, but it won't take much swiveling of the head before it finds itself in peril again. The very fine cable was crushed and mangled by my few attempts at locking the chuck before I took the tool apart. A shame, because the drill is very well made otherwise. Someone just was not thinking.
