Black and Decker Quick Vise: any good?

There's a Black and Decker Quick Vise for sale and it intrigued me because it opens so wide. I looked into it a little more and it will clamp odd shapes. The one for sale is missing the swivel pegs that allow this, but I could probably fabricate some.

Has anyone here used this particular vise? Is this one of those gimmicky devices?

it looks too flimsy to call it a vice, slide clamp maybe.

Has anyone used one of these? I don't expect it to work like a vise, but it could make a good clamp that's bolted to a table. I'd love to hear from anyone who has actually owned and used one.

I have one of those and they aren‘t great. Lot of movement in the dynamic jaw and the whole thing is made from stamped sheet metal.

Would it be good for holding anything, though? Does it stay put when tight? My bench vises both wiggle a bit, but hold tight when the screw is tightened. I thought this might help hold large items or odd- shaped ones. Or is this just a gimmicky piece of ****?
