Black & Decker model 74 grinder

Anyone have any 411 on B&D model 74 bench grinder? I found one at a pawn shop, asking $69 . it seems well used and needs a paint job. runs OK . no shields and the rests are ground down from rubbing on the wheels.
price seems high to me?

If it's the ones I'm thinking about, it's from back when B&D was a real bonafide industrial tool. Condition is everything and without pics it's hard to offer any opinion. Some of them were 3-phase, IIRC.

As long as it is not beat, missing a bunch of parts or spun a bearing, buy it. Those are very nice units. Look like a craftsman round top block grinder. 8" machines from the mid 40's to mid 50's IIRC.

Picked it up, got them to knock off $5 , better than nothing. tried for 10 but since it just came in they wouldn't do it.











overall seems to be in decent shape. runs really good and it spins forever ( not literally LOL) after it's turned off.lots of power, I took a pc of 3/4" round bar & chamfered it .
never owned a grinder this powerful



there seems to be a pc missing on the rests .

Nice unit. It is missing the little spark arrestor type grates on each rest. They screw on via the 4 corner holes.

doubtful I'd ever find the spark arrestors, I'll just make up a couple of plates and drill them I guess.

I have a chance to buy what I think are NOS, OEM non lit shields for this grinder. I bought some lighted ones I planned on using on the refurb, , but they are not originals .
Help me decide! LOL
