I believe that song was made by KISS. Sanborn made compressors called black something but I think they were Black Max and not Black Diamond.

Yes Sanborn made or makes a line of air compressors called Black Max. I bought one in the late eighties and it’s still as strong today as it was back then. After a quick google search it looks as though they may be made by the same import company that makes them for the likes of Harbor Freight, Northern Tool, the box home improvement stores and such.

Sanborn MFG out of Minnesota makes the Black Diamond line of compressors.

Not to be confused with BlackMax, which Sanborn started, and was carried over for a few years when Coleman owned them from the late 90’s - early 2000’s. I have no idea why Coleman ever wanted to get into that industry. Fortunately, Coleman sold them on to MAT industries. MAT took it and turned things around in a big way. Currently they make more asme rated tanks for compressor air receivers and truck air brake tanks than anyone else in the states, and they hold a large share of the 60-80 gallon compressor market. They have a few well established models, and sell them under dozens of privet label names. Which, is all very funny, because you almost never hear of the name Sanborn despite them being a dominant force in the air power industry.
