Black epoxy floor - would you do it again?

I am interested in hearing from people who did a dark (black?) epoxy floor and how you like it a year or more later. I really like the look, but am wondering about the practicality in a working hobby garage and would hope to benefit from your experience. Specifically, would you do it again or would you go with a different color?

It's a *****... Looks grand when new and clean, but so much work to keep it clean. Just walking in from outside, you'll see your footprints etc. You have to be really **** about cleaning and also change shoes when u step into the workshop (been there, done that...) Also if u trap a stone under the wheels of a toolbox or similar and it gets pushed along, u have a nice shiny white mark/line in the epoxy...

I did a dark grey flake ( since I had lots from a custom order) in my garage a year ago. I'm going to re do it this winter. Its way too bland, and always dirty. Wont recommend it to a customer, thats for sure....

I always recommend if you want a black floor, it needs a clear coat. That way the scratches won't show as much and it will loo a bit cleaner. Truth is, black is a VERY hard color to keep clean looking.

I had a black truck years ago. Beautiful right after being washed and waxed, but ugly the next day. Couldn't imagine doing my garage floor in black.

So far so good though I feel that with the clear if you drop something that stains it's on there forever and easily noticeable. Cleanliness hasn't been an issue the flake makes it hard to notice dirt. However when I drop a bolt or nut I usually have to pull out a magnet to find it. Basically I would do it again but I'd use less flake and more clear.

We have installed black epoxy floors with poly clear coats. Solid epoxies on a garage floor will show all concrete imperfections, and black is the worst. The clear coat then magnifies same. It gets dirty when you breath on it. The best application to hide imperfections is a good prep job and a full chip application. I would steer clear from black epoxy.

Ditto on the BLACK floor!

In doing our garage, we used white, black, red and grey. Of those colors I would use WHITE again! It will get dirty, but it doesn't show the scratches and scuff marks as bad as the darker colors........

I did a single stage black epoxy on my Vegas house and I plan on doing it again, I think it looked great, wish I had done a better clear however. It cracked in a few areas, but it never lifted, I dropped, dragged, did everything to it and it survived. It's all about the prep work.

Black floors are like Black cars.
They look great when they're clean & shiney... not so much when they're dirty.
And it's much harder to keep a floor clean than a car

A full flaked floor done in some kind of mixture of different color tans, beige, mocha, black, and white flakes always seems to look much cleaner than it really is. It hides dirt well.

Having owned a black car, once, I would never own another black car. I can't imagine the headaches a black garage floor would bring....
