So does anybody know where I could get a fitting shaped like this in 1" black iron? I am trying to keep my gas line tight against the ceiling.

I have not seen something like that for black iron or steel. I know you can get it in stainless steel. Worst case (I don't know where you are putting it), you can buy a T-section, and put an elbow on the end. It will achieve the same flow, but the vertical part will be offset due to the elbow.

One T and one street L.
One wall would be a bit lower than the other but would do the same thing and you aren't on the net dicking around when any corner hardware store could get you back to work.

Thanks for the replies. A tee with a street elbow was actually my first plan, but the offset caused by the street elbow will cause an alignment problem with the current installation. Being the idiot that I am, I decided to build shelves before I fully planned out the heater location. Now I am forced with making a nasty looking gas line run or rebuilding a section of shelving.

Look for one in galvy, but 1" will be a deal killer at big box stores, a proper plumbing supplier is the place for that.

It's a S.O. Elbow.
Not a popular fitting & probably not in stock anywhere but a plumbing wholesaler(maybe).
I'm a plumber & in 40 years- I'd have to say I've never had the need to use one.

Thank you everyone for your quick replies! Turns out I was unnecessarily hung-up on T-ing into the line on the vertical section. I got a second set of eyes to look at the problem and he had a solution right away. I am going to T-off of a different spot all together, so no need for the elusive part.

Street elbows and bushings are not allowed for use in natural gas lines, FYI.

The threaded cross section is smaller.

I was all set to install one in a different location; you likely just saved me a pile of re-work. Thank you!
