Black iron pipe - through wall termination

Running a new 1/2" line through the interior wall for a future Big Maxx heater. I've run black pipe in the past but never through an exterior wall. How do I terminate on the exterior wall for a regulator?

Do I use a special flange or just run the stub through the wall and cap for future use?

likely depends on your area .here it is run through the wall with vinyl tape wrapped and caulked . no special flange. cap it both ends to keep the bugs & **** out

Put it through the wall let it stick out 1 and 1/2 inches. Put a pipe cap on it and your good to go.

Thanks for all the replies, really appreciate it. I should have mentioned this is on my detach, my house has some type of flange but is goes from the regulator to the CSST flex line; not black iron.

I tried searching for a black iron flange for a through-wall application but came up with nothing. I'll run a stub and cap it, thanks again.

Im curious if you are saying that the flange connects CSST to the regulator *before* the penetration(?) I don’t think they’ll let CSST be used outside around here, that’s why I asked.

The CSST runs on the interior and terminates with the flange on the exterior, then to the regulator. (hopefullythis makes sense)

What I've done is just cut a round hole oversized and fill with Great Stuff foam. Once it cures, remove a bit foam and apply a good quality polyurethane sealant. Paint to match.

This allows for small movements from the exterior finish and pipe. I've never seen any flange or flashing around here, even for commercial. I've only seen some neoprene boot-looking thing on roof penetrations.

Why are you planning a regulator inside the building? 2PSI gas system or something? Be aware that there are special rules/requirements for regulators used indoors.

I believe that national fuel code requires through wall piping to be coated or sleeved.

Coating could be as simple as putting some paint on it before putting it in the wall. This should protect it from rusting inside the wall cavity.
