my trusty snake light finally gave up the ghost... cracked housing, replaced bulbs, 2 part epoxy etc... I'm done...

in the trash...

any suggestions for a 110v versatile do it all light?

mostly use for working on vehicles or getting extra light for welding.....

thats what I loved about the snake light... you could get in close to what yer working on.

needs to be 110v

I am done with cordless ****.

Pretty sure Kobalt had something similar last year during the holidays. Not really sure if it's still available but I'm sure they would be on eBay. May even be able to find a snake light on eBay.

Man the "Snakelight" brings back some memories...one of the first things my old man gave me when we got married...still have this vintage flashlight version...just put batteries in it (2C) and cleaned the contacts...fired right up!

Heh, I was going to say I was given a Kobalt HyperCoil LED snake light a few years back and I love it. It's cordless though. It has a plug-in built into the base that folds out to plug in the wall when it needs a charge. It works great. Holds a charge a really long time and I use it all the time - it's my go-to that I keep hanging on my toolbox in the garage - and I only really have had to charge it once or twice a year.

I just searched at Lowes though and they apparently don't sell it any more, so I searched ebay and yikes! they going for a lot more expensive prices than I would have ever imagined. I guess there are others who are fond of theirs as well.

I have one, I barely ever use it. It's probably full of leaking Duracells now. I should find it...

Yeah, I had one of those too... It went in the trash.

I hate anything cordless.... seems they always start to peter out when your in the middle of something.

Thats why I liked the original snake lite.... it had a long cord and also an aux 110 outlet to plug into.

I loved the ability to wrap it around my neck, which left both hands free to work on a furnace. Could re-direct the light by flexing my neck or moving my shoulders. Loved it - till the plastic clip holding the battery compartment closed snapped off!

I have aother black Snakelight that I grabbed at an estate sale but never got around to using. If someone is interested I can dig around and see if I can find it for ya.

OP - try plastic welder by Devcon. Works on plastic when no other 2-part epoxy will.

Haha brings back memories when I was a young boy I use to wrap it around the roll bars on my gocart as a headlight and a spot light for hunting down those huge kane toads in south Florida that are poisonous to dogs and we had a huge yard and 2 $700 dogs and a **** load of toads I wiped them out thanks to that light. There is much better lights than those old things they we're not very bright at all get you a nice led and toss that pos.

I have both the Lowes and the Snap On lights. I like the Lowes for under-hood and other situations where the light has to be pretty close to the work.

The SO is very bright. Too bright unless you keep it several feet from where you are working. I would like a telescoping mast about eight feet high (fully extended) to mount one on. Right now I use one to light up a lathe by mounting it on the wall near the tailstock.

Costco has had the SO on sale a couple of times in the last few months at about $25.00. Keep an eye out and they should drop the price again. Their other LED bulbs and fixtures have dropped in price lately.
