If you can afford it, go ¾" for the trunk line. More volume in the trunk line equals more consistent pressure if and when more than one tool is being run.

I ran some galvanized fitting when I did mine only because I didnt feel like waiting a week for black ones to come in. What I have heard is that the galvanized coating can flake off and then go into your tools = very bad. I dont worry too much about it because I have a filter that has the same quick connects so I usually move it to whatever port I am running my air tools off of. If I am just using a blow gun I dont worry about it at all.

I used galvanized 'cause I got it for the price of black pipe (misquote by the supplier).

I've had it up since '06, no issues so far.
