i have a heavy old black smith vise, but i have never seen one like that. but is nice to be schooled in it, thats kind of how all my vises grew on me...lol

I bet that thing is worth more than $1,300. That really is amazing old iron. You don't see stuff like that any more. The people that have seen them in the past 15-20 years have been the scrappers exclusively...

Wow. I was thinking of a post-vise. I've never seen one like that! I think most of the price comes in from a)-it being unique and rare, and b)- from it being all there!

That thing is badass
Twice now I've seen similar vises in person, though a little smaller (4-5"-ish) and not in such good condition, but they were being sold in the $250-350 range. If I seen this one in a local shop without a price tag, my guess on the price before asking would be something like $500-650. Though I agree it looks great and it looks like he did a fantastic job on the restore, $1,300 still seems very high to me.
