Rural King has the Gearwrench 4 piece SAE and metric completer sets on sale for $25 in their Black Friday ad. They can be ordered online with about $14 shipping charges. Not too bad of a deal if you need them.

Does Urban King carry that same set?

Puma compressor at Northern Tool. Porter Cable compressor at Tractor Supply

Thanks, that's a good price on the Puma if anybody is looking for one. There aren't any Northern stores near me and $210 shipping pretty much kills the deal for me. :(

I'm headed over to TSC to check out that Porter Cable, not a bad price for a basic 60 gallon compressor.

Edit: I checked out the Porter Cable at TSC, it's typical of most of the light-duty 60 gallon compressors (Kobalt, Husky, Sanborn, etc) however it doesn't have a filter fitting on the cylinder head (the filter is just a rectangle of felt). I don't like the noise of a compressor and had planned to plumb my air intake through the shop wall so this one's out.

Speaking of Gearwrench, Ace Hardware has 6 piece Metric and SAE sets for $9.99. They look to be old stock (the packaging is a bit shelf worn) but that means the coo is Taiwan. If your store is like mine you'll have to really dig to find them though, they like to hide the loss leaders at the back of the store with the summer seasonal stuff. :lol_hitti

Edit: Turns out the Gearwrenches aren't that old, the copyright on the packaging says 2013. Strange, I thought they'd moved production to China on these a while ago. At any rate they aren't nearly as nice as the set I bought 10 years ago, the beam of the wrenches is much thicker, the open end is lobster clawed, and the box end is very, well, boxy. To top it off the ratcheting mechanism is not nearly as smooth as my old set. Oh well, they were only $9.99 so no buyers remorse.

For those shopping at Home Depot, you might have to be careful on the doorbuster deals. I was at my local home depot late last night about 8:00pm and the staff was budy unwrapping the special displays and I asked if I could check out with the advertised price and the response was that if the price was shown on the floor when I bought it I could receive that price. I didn't actually buy anything, but if anyother hawks were circling for a product it could already be gone or in short supply before Black Friday.

Looks like your Home Depot workers have as much pride in their jobs as they do at my store.

Normally I dread trips to restoration hardware, but we went this morning and everything was an extra 25% off... Not bad. They also had some REALLY good deals on random furniture.

I grabbed this all steel "French factory" desk for $125 with tax. Was originally $1995.

If you're near a store or an outlet, it might be worth looking in.

Earlier in the week I bought a Ridgid combo, the $199 deal which turned out to be not only what I didn't want (it wasn't the better set with the 4AH batteries) and one battery was DOA — wouldn't take a charge. Took it back and surveyed everything they had.

Well guess what? Today's prices are the same as last Monday and they are good for 6 days on. So apparently unless you are looking for 99 cent poinsettias, there really isn't much to see.

As with many traditions, even the short lived ones (Black Friday has been an ongoing evolution, it was reported that in 1985 retailers on the West Coast were at the time unaware of the term)(also origins of the term come from different influences such as the profits shown on shopping days to be 'in the black' and to references from police depts to the crammed downtown retail districts), this is another example of exploitation by the retailers of the US. I guess you can consider this one along side putting out Christmas decorations the day after Halloween.

The new term should be "Greedy Friday."

We looked over the Black Friday ads and just decided there was nothing worth going out for this year. We have always went every year, but for the most part, the deals were pretty lackluster. Sears has had all the tool deals out for at least a week here. If I had wanted them, I could have bought them without fighting the crowds.

We did order some things online, but wouldn't have bought those if we had had to go to the store to get them. No way was I venturing out on Thanksgiving day for the 6pm "deals" a lot of people had. They weren't that good of a deal and the roads were icy anyway, which sealed the deal for us. I think Black Friday may have about run its course.

I just went by Ace. That 50% off coupon is nice. I really couldn't find anything special. I just used on a $10 item I had been planning to pick up sometime anyway. They did have some pretty good deals on tool kits and ratcheting wrench sets. I was hoping to find the Craftsman locking extension set. They didn't stock it.

Not many deals worth fighting over. Stopped by Walmart on the way home from the in-laws at 9 pm all the electronics deals were gone as I had expected. Tons of the crappy Stanley tool boxes though.

I spent an hour searching for something to use that coupon on, finally got a pair of ViseGrip sheet metal flanging pliers. They'll come in handy and at $10 I felt good about the deal.

I spent quite a bit of time looking for something myself. Was surprised to see lots of the 14.99 extension cords on the shelves, I had already bought 5 and 1 for my boss. Got tired of looking around so I went for a stanley block plane for about 13 bucks....the same thing I bought last year...

Little upset at Enco right now. Last week they had that one day only 30% off sale. I didn't get the email until 9:30 that night. I go to bed at 9 since my shift starts at 6 and the shop is an hour away. Today I get the Black Friday email of 10% off with free shipping at 9!! WTF. Why don't they send this **** out in the morning. I'm holding out for 20% and free on Cyber Monday. However I would have placed a couple of hundred dollar order on that 30% off deal. Now I'm holding for the 20% and free shipping just because they pissed me off (I'll be over it soon). Had I got that email this morning, I would have placed the big order I'm sitting on. Figuring that 10% is better than nothing. But now, I'm going all for broke 20% or nothing. Rant over. Keith

Yeah, then ya had to spend $99.00, and I have spent too much this month, and just cant afford $100.00 at ENCO right now.
I didn't get mine till late either, and it said, Last chance,
They are screwing themselves with this $100.00 minimum IMO

The order I'm sitting on has $100 in carbide inserts. I've been saving all summer for this. New X-Y table new chucks for the lathe, thread wire set, 1,2,3 blocks, gage block set, vise for the mill, 5C collet vise, shim stock, step block/clamp set bunch of other stuff. Christmas, birthday, anniversary all rolled into one, except I get the bill! Keith

Very nice find Anthony! Was it heavy to move?

I actually haven't picked it up yet! We opted to leave it (they give you three days after buying to pick up). I'll head over early tomorrow and grab it. I do think it's about 150#... Should be fun to get off the tailgate of the truck.

Went to my local store, was disappointed. That desk is awesome. Can you share any more details? Location? Was it a display model or something? I am envious.

I do understand that, but my money is a little tight right now,due to the holidays.
When they had the -20 and free shipping, No minimum's, sometimes I would order a few things, and place my order, then get to looking around and order something else.
Then get to looking around on the site, and see something, and order something else.
Usually it would come in one box, so I wasn't wasting there money(Enco's)
with all my separate orders. So if there was a $100.00 minimum, and I didn't need or couldn't afford that month, $100 worth of stuff, I don't order nothing.
But if there is no minimum, and I spend say, $50.00, well at least they got a $50.00 sale instead of nothing.
That was just my point.
Now...............You did get the e mail this AM, on the -20% and free shipping did you not?

Any good Cyber Monday or upcoming deals anyone has heard about? Post em up. - Paul
OK, lol....................ENCO has -20% off, and free shipping,

I found Stanley wood chisel 3 pack for 3.99. Great chisel and a steal price. Marked 11.99 on the shelf

So I knew I couldn't hold out forever, I went with the Kreg K5 kit, the special includes a face clamp, stopper and $20 gift card for the normal $139 price.

http://www.rockler.com/kreg-jig-k5-pocket-hole-system-face-klamp-with-free-20-gift-card

I also added 2 pocket hole clamps from Rockler that seem to get good reviews and free shipping.

For the longest time I didn't want to purchase the pocket hole clamps.... after purchasing 1, I quickly purchased a second as they made putting pieces together SUPER easy.

It was in the Wrentham, MA outlet store. Some kind of display unit, probably from a mainline store. The top has a bit of scratches and the lady at the store was very adamant that it "was missing screws" for the little tray that goes along the bottom of the back... A couple 1/4-20 bolts and it's miraculously repaired! Definitely not a perfect condition desk, but a beautiful solid desk for my wife's craft room. I'm almost temped to have my dad scuff it and paint it with base/clear.
