I recently acquired this Blackhawks 607403 2 ton floor jack.
Thought I would give it a whirl to rebuild.
I have never done a floor jack before but did like the size of this one(seems very heavy duty)
I am just a home user in a two car garage so the size of it is a little excessive to be able to store when not in use. Have found that the kit cost about $100.
Here are my questions
1.What I am finding is the rebuild kit is $100-$120 to TRY to rebuild it.
Is it worth it?
2. Having never rebuilt a jack am I over my head on this? Should I just take it to a local shop and see what they would charge to get it working again.
3. Does anyone have a parts source they would recommend? The kit seems a bit excessive for what it is

Thank you in advance

Would love to see some pics of your jack, not sure what it looks like. I have ordered parts from Hydraulic Parts Supply at 620-594-2247. Super easy to deal with and reasonable on prices. I have a few project jacks on my list to rebuild and the USA made jacks are worth rebuilding. Threads with pictures seem to get more responses. A lot of threads on jack rebuilds on GJ via the search function.

HPS list a 2 ton Blackhawk SJ-3 67403 universal kit for 86.75, they send out paper catalogs! Are you sure of your model number above? Worth trying to rebuild if the jack is in good condition and USA made.

It’s not one of my favorite models, I think there are better options out there in regards to 2 ton lift capacity. As always if you decide to proceed, inspect the jack carefully as hard parts are hard to find and as you have found, the seal kit isn’t cheap.

Surprised no pics/rebuild threads are on here for Blackhawk jacks. Ive not been here for awhile but seems most of the rebuild threads have disappeared from this site? Most pics have for sure.
It had a lot at one time, it was a huge help for rebuilding/saving the old jacks. Most showed step by step rebuilding, not sure what happened to them?
