Hello there, so I just picked it up a few hours ago. its been used ha ha. So far i figured the top is a blackhawk chief box. Its missing the front cover, one slider is come loose, there is paint drops on top, but i like it! not sure if i should just clean it and let it be, or strip it down and repaint?

now the bottom part has only one tag on the inside of the door. googled it but comes up with nothing. Any one know a bit more about it?

I have had the exact same top box as yours for about forty years. Someone gave it to me.
I refinished it way back then by taking it to an engine shop and they hot tanked it and I got back bare metal. then i shot it with rustoleum. It all need to be redone now but I may never get to it.
I think if I were you I would keep it as is. Especially that decal.

I also have a matching blackhawk rollaround from that era that I inherited from my dad.

That bottom cabinet started life as a medical supply cabinet...

Wow, thank you! well looks like it will get cleaned up and then maybe find some new knobs, clear coat on it and a butcher block on top and we have a new kitchen island! will post some shots when done.

would you mind posting a shot of your rollaround?
You are right as far as leaving it be. it does have a ton of character, and i wouldn't want to mess with loosing the decal on the inside. The only thing that bugs me is the white paint spilled on top, also someone has painted it kind of orang/red color on the outside and top. maybe i could just strip the top of it and clear coat the whole thing just the way it is? by the way i will not be using it for tools, it's coming into the house to sit on my desk.

Sadly, Blackhawk stuff is getting rare! Real shame, as it's about the best there's ever been!

Personally, I wouldn't just strip it and repaint it, I'd do a complete refurb, using professional help if necessary! (But don't touch the paint till you've had the colour matched and you are able to reproduce the 'Blackhawk' transfer inside the lid!)

Anybody with money can own a Snap On box. Only the very discerning, who are also very lucky, get to own a Blackhawk!
