Blackhawk floor Jack assistance

Hello,

This Jack looks nothing like the others in seeing.

I am looking for assistance with identifying a Jack I will be restoring. The main pump housing says S4-05-1 and S4-40-1 on another casting. There is no serial number plate and does not appear to have ever had a place for one. I searched for S4 but appears different.

Can anyone help identify this Jack?

What is the port on top of the assembly with the curved protrusion that is pictured?

Has anyone identified what lock cylinder can be used for the lock? This is the only part that appears to be missing.

Thank you for any assistance. I’m looking forward to tackling this project.

John

I think it’s an early S4, It’s also Missing the cover plate.

The curved portion is light.

I know Blackhawk made a larger 6 ton model, but I don’t believe it had a light.

Blackhawk S4 deluxe model.

It's missing the hydraulic cover plate, the headlight lens is missing and the lens plate is mounted backwards. You're also missing the lock cylinder at the top of the handle.

Thank you.
I will see if I can find an image of a complete one to compare. If anyone has those parts and can share images it would be a great help. With dimensions I can fabricate the covers and 3D print the lens. I assume a donor will be impossible to find.

That is an awesome Jack you have. Looks great.

However, This Jack doesn’t look like the one you shared. The logo is cast into the lifting arm as well as on the sides of the Jack. There is no grease zerc in the center of the pivot for the arm either as shown in your image.

Basically I want to make sure I can locate the correct gasket set for a rebuild and find an image of the complete Jack to identify what is missing. I did a search on the forum and did not find one like it. Does anyone have one that looks the same who can assist in showing the missing components?

If this is an s4 deluxe, does anyone know when it was produced? I do not see references to deluxe anywhere unless I am missing them.

Thanks again for any assistance.

As I stated it’s an early S-4, In the early models it was rated for 3 ton versus the one pictured by thehorse13 above. I was wrong about missing a cover plate based off a couple advertisement pictures I scoured off the inter webs.

I never even caught the cast logo on the side rails on this early rig. This is actually great news for the op. Now all he has to do is source a lens and key lock assembly for the handle.

Just for completeness, my later S-4 is a standard model which does not have a locking handle or light.

Excellent news! This helps a lot and thank you for sharing the literature. I missed the note about being an early model above. I will take a look through the other posts to see if the Early model pump seals are the same as the other S4 models.

Does any one have a light that they could photograph the lens for me? I can CAD model the lens and 3D print it for now as finding an Original will be unlikely.

Has anyone replaced the key cylinder before? This one was missing completely so I'm not able to ID what is needed.

Thank you for all the assistance! Glad to have joined the forum.

Can someone share an image of the battery cover that screws into the end of the handle for the light?

Thanks again,

I never got a round tuit, but eventually I intend to 3d print a lens. I modeled it and printed a test part but the threads are not right or the sagging of the threads in the print are enough to cause it not to thread in. Closest I could guess was 1.25"-16. I have pictures of a lens that somebody sent me. When I get home this weekend I can post those. If I can find it, I can send you the model that I came up with too. What I wanted to do was to 3d print the part and polish the areas that need it, then cast in urethane or epoxy

That would be awesome. Thank you so much. I have SolidWorks, and Alias available for CAD so whatever you have I’m sure I can make work. Yah casting may be the best approach. If you can send the images as well it would be great. If I cast it I can send you a lens.

If you can take photos of the battery cover it would be a huge help as well. I can machine this part but don’t know what it looks like.

Thanks again!

I don't have the battery cover. I started to model it based on pictures but I really only care about the exposed side. I plan to put a micro switch in it and probably an 18650 cell driving an LED.

The major part of the restoration was completed last week. Blasted and refinished. Just details left. Need to finish the light lens, battery cover, and decals. Then decide if I want to pinstripe or paint the lettering.

I recreated the original decals. They were very difficult to make out but I eventually figured it out and redrew them in Illustrator. I’ll reprint them this week and get them applied. The ones on the Jack are just mock ups in b&w for size. I also did not restore the handle. It’s polished out from use and I may leave like that as it’s super comfortable and shows it’s use.

Whateg01 - Any chance you can send the pics/CAD soon? Still haven’t found another reference.

The next steps are slow. I will need to make the light lens, and reprint the decals that were recreated based on the originals. So it may be awhile until completed but the rest went w very well and it’s back in operating condition minus the light.

Hi Oregonjam, did you have to rebuild the hydraulic ram on yours? I have an s4 as well and it works well except for a small leak.
