Blackhawk Jack, Jack Stands and Old Bell

So I was given these items yesterday.

The Blackhawk jack is complete however, the front wheels are seized up and the handle is locked in place without a key. Judging by the looks I'd say it from the 40's-50's. I would welcome anymore info on the jack.

These Jack stands are AJAX Silver Horse. They are complete and in excellent condition. Again, I don't know much about them, if you have any further info on these I would love to hear about them.

This solid brass bell came off of an old train locomotive but I have no idea from what era, model train or otherwise. Again, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks. Even if I don't ever get the jack working it is great shop art. I can get a rebuild kit for $170 so once I get everything torn down and the wheels rolling good, I will go ahead and do the rebuild. Not sure if I will paint it leave it as is.

Interesting bell. Is that some kind of air-powered ringer connected to the top? Never seen anything like it but for a locomotive it might make sense.

Yes, it was hooked up to some type of air line but I really don't know anything about it. I just like it because it is solid brass. My plan is to polish it out and display it in my shop.

I would guess the bell is from a service station when you would drive up to the pumps and over the hose stretched out in front of them the bell would ring to let the attendant know you were there.

No, it's not that kind of bell. I grew up working at Service Stations and those bells were much smaller. The person I got this bell from explained they did indeed get it from a Locomotive. Thanks for the reply though.

I never saw a jack that needed a key to raise and lower it!

It's just a key that unlocks the handle. I don't really see the need for this but the manufacturer claims it to be a safety feature.

The Blackhawk S4 is Iconic with its Looks and Light, it’s also a Heart breaker her at GJ. The older Vintage jacks, especially Blackhawk with there proprietary tools to keep unauthorized service centers from working on there jacks, along with a lack of replacement hard parts makes them a challenge for the casual buyer.

I definitely wouldn’t purchase a seal kit until you have accessed the jack internally, it’s definitely seen some weather and there is about a 99.9999% chance it will need some hard parts manufactured, along with some machine work prior to even thinking about a seal kit.

AWESOME!!! Thanks for the info. It is a really cool jack but if I have to get into having parts manufactured, it will have to remain a static type of shop art display. Yes indeed, I won't be buying any parts until I can get inside and see what the piston and cylinder looks like. Once I get in there, I will take some photos to post up. This thing is pretty interesting by having a light. That is something that I've never seen on a floor jack. Thanks again Hiball

Found a Youtube of a locomotive bell ringer, I believe it runs off compressed air. That’s the way I remember them sounding!

AWESOME!! Great video. I would like to rig mine up like that, thanks for sharing!

Wow never seen one like this. A locksmith could definitely make a key for it no doubt unless you got the one on eBay

The one on Ebay has already ended. I have a really good locksmith here in town. I will load it up and take it over to him. I'm 99% sure he can make a key.

I just picked this up for free the other week. It’s a Blackhawk S4. It works just needs the Jack Lamp lens and the back casters replaced.
