I have been looking on google for a while tonight and can't find much in the way of a repair or rebuild kit for a Blackhawk 34935a ratchet I have
(3/8 flex head). I am from the school of thought that if a tool works it is alright with me so I have no idea if this is the worst ratchet ever designed or if it is pretty decent but I will say it was my go to ratchet when it gave up the ghost 3-4 years ago. I just happened to see it at the back of a drawer this morning as I was roundig up Craftsman tools to return. I would like to have it back to work one of these years :). Is this something Stanley waranties - I have no idea what their policy is?

Anyone know where I can find a rebuild kit? I know they exist as I have seen a picture of the kit on here when searching. I just can't find one. All the exterior parts look fine, the selector on the back of the head is nearly impossible to turn and feels awfully crunchy. I am guessing the toothed ratchet part is stripped, though I have not taken it apart yet.

Thanks for any ideas.

Do I just stop in a Grainger hand them a ratchet and they fix it or do I have to order the kit, pay for it, and then throw it together myself. Even looking at Grainger online they don't list a rebuild for this ratchet but I am guessing it is the same as the 41 tooth 3/8 non flex ratchet.

I did have a few minutes yesterday and tore it apart. The gears in the head (OD if you will) are fine and as suspected the smaller gears that are on the inside are toast. Actuallt the teeth look pretty good but one of the splined portions is in two pieces.

Any other ideas?

I have a repair kit that is marked as 34945R-it is a 3 piece kit with single pawl which I count with 9 splines. I don't know if this fits your ratchet or not-you can compare this to your parts from the picture? If this is of future interest, let me know. Cranky:headscrat

This looks just like a 45 tooth New Britain kit.

Here is a quick pic of the ratchet. The left/right switch/lever whatever you call it is different then the rebuild kit above so I don't know if that works. My guess is it would but I kind of like the 3 prong style in this case. Nothing speceial just a wrench.

I did e-mail Stanley/Proto, we'll see how many days/weeks/months IF they even get back to me that will take.

I am enclosing some more pictures of another ratchet repair kit that I have. I think you will have to dis-assemble your ratchet to see how many teeth the pawl has. This one looks to be for a coarse tooth ratchet as it has 3 larger teeth on each side. It looks simular to the one on your ratchet with the knurled edge and the tri-wing selector. Maybe Stanley can tell you if it will fit your particular unit. The Blackhawk part # of the kit is 34945BR.
As you can see in the last picture the stanley-no name & Blackhawk all look to use the same type of kit??
