Looking for help with finding/making the right tool to repair a Blackhawk S-13. I recently brought it to a local jack repair place in the Twin Cities, he called and said he didn't have the right tool (spanner socket) to disassemble. So I told him I'd ask around to figure out what I needed.

I've searched GJ, but not finding any useful info so far. I know the kits are available, so if I have to rebuild it myself, I'm OK with that. Just need the right tool. It does work now, but it's a bit leaky.

Note that it has the small knurls on the release knob and no light. Most I've seen have the large cogs with a light. I believe the jack is from the late 1940s.

I tore apart a very early 1940s S4 jack that looks just like yours only larger. I didn't need any sort of special tool other than very large DOE wrenches. 1 1/4 and 1 5/8ths if memory serves.

Kits are available and a competent hydraulics shop can rebuild the ram.

I thought these used a spanner socket of some sort to open up the ram assembly. I brought it to a guy that repairs pallet and floor jacks. He said he didn't have the tool to take it apart and wouldn't attempt it. Also said the ram was pretty beat up and scratched. I didn't really buy it. Knowing it leaks a little, I didn't think either ram was in poor condition. The rear one is worn on the bottom...probably from being used in bare ground and not in concrete, for farm equipment I guess. But, it's on the exposed portion that doesn't move past any seals.

Not afraid to take it all apart, just not sure I have the right stuff to do it.
