I have shot at buying a Blackhawk s4 jack. I talked to the guy and he says that it functions and does not leak. He is asking $200 and I am going to look at it tomorrow. Assuming the above is true I was thinking of offering $175 which may be a bit much as is. Is this reasonable? It has been recently painted which means squat but I am hoping it was well taken care of.

Thanks

Mike

Depends on the condition. I will tell you this though, as cool as they look they are expensive to get working again or repair. Special tools, seal kits >$100. Hard parts are either find someone parting out a jack or machine your own. I've wanted one a number of times but was advised against it thanks to the resident jack expert. Ended up with a modern walker and milwaukee, very happy and if ever needed parts are easily sourced fairly cheap from the manufactures. They are not nearly as cool looking but I can live with that.

I wouldn't pay anything near what they are asking given the reasons that zkling says. If you really want a true resto themed garage then maybe its worth that much otherwise it's a cheap price knowing they cost a lot to get into true working order.

Also, what else is the seller going to do with that jack? I don't think there is a huge market for those, especially if they are less than good working order, to spend money on them. Most people see new as being better. So go low and if they take it great, if they don't walk and who knows, they may call you later at the the low price.
