I have a blackhawk S4 hydraulic jack and I am having a issue with it, I replaced the seals in it and now it jacks up slow and leaks off but there is no fluid on the ground. Could someone help me out please?

It sounds like fluid is bypassing somewhere inside the mechanism past a seal?? I am not an expert on these jacks but there is a member here who is. His user name is hiball I believe and he will be able to help you out. I would search some past posts to see if others have encountered this and then send him a message if you can't find anything. Post up some pictures of the jack and seals when you have a moment.! On the garage journal we love the s4 :)

I can take it apart too lol. But when I put it together is when I hit a problem, the seals are leather and makes everything hard to move once put together.

What Seals did you replace? Did you venture into the Valve systems? Have you properly bled the system? Is it dropping under load or light?

Hiball, I called and got seals from blackhawk. I believe I bled it correctly, it is dropping under a load. Blackhawk is told me to mess with the release screw to unscrew it until it almost falls out and it may start leaking and if it does jut screw it in. I know when I take off the light and add fluid if you pump the handle fluid comes out a little hole on the top right side.

Im not sure what they are referencing in regards to "unscrewing the release", Unless they think that the Release seat/cone is damaged or there is a contaminate preventing a good seat. If Memory Serves, The Overload is in the Upper Right side, It is a standalone assembly that threads into the block. IF the Overload is Light it will certainly allow the Load to Drop, In Regards to the Fast side not working, More than likely the adjustment is too light and the Seat is Lifting prior to reaching the Load. When the Load is falling do you Notice any Handle feedback? Pictures will go along way in this discussion.

The second one is just like the one I have here, have you put a seal kit in either one of those? If so let me know how you did it please 930dreamer.

Hello everybody I'm new to the community, love the threads and mutual respect, I know where i'll be spending a lot of time searching. I apologize for uploading on this thread but I just acquired a Blackhawk S4 for free that I'm going to restore and I'm looking for some info. I have a local family run hydraulic shop thats going to rebuild the unit for me, but I'm looking for rear castors that will work, which I understand are an issue with these. Also any info on restoring the light, the switch light and wiring was removed from mine. From what I've read and seen so far HIBALL has ridden many of these vintage jack restoration rodeos so I'm hoping he will chime in and share some more of his wisdom (thank you in advance) here are some pictures of my jack
