Blackhawk SJ23 Floor Jack I think?

This is my first try at this thread, hope you all enjoy the pictures. I have had this jack for over 30 years, it was my Dads and I'm not sure of its origin. Anyway My Dad passed on Jan.3 2011 and I have been thinking about restoring this old jack as kind of a thing to remember him by. Dad and I restored 3 Model A Fords back in the mid 60's and this Jack got a good work out in those days. But it has been sitting around for some time now. Anyway I started to Google for info about the old jack and came across this web site. A nice fella in Memphis TN has been very helpful and I hope to get this old girl back together soon and will post more pictures.

I am sorry to hear of your dad's passing. The project you are undertaking to remember him by is a worthy endeavor.

Sorry to here about your father. Mine will be 89 in just over a month and I dread the day that I will get a call. Like you, I helped dad in his garage as a paid mechanic but the times we had there will never be forgotten. Re-build that jack, use it and cherish the memories that you have every time you lift something with it.

Welcome to the forum!! This is a nice little to project to remember some great times with your Dad.

Your jack to me, appears to have the lifting arm and frame that's comparable with Blackhawk models S-17 and S-23. The handle and handle yoke assy. looks like they came off an SJ-23. Blackhawk made design enhancements over time as these series of models evolved. Interestingly enough they seemed to have kept the same hydraulic unit.

Take a look at pages 23 and 24, this is a parts list for models S-17E and S-23C. Still doesn't look like your exact jack, but perhaps we're a little closer to giving your jack a positive I.D. The overall jack frame, handle and lifting arm looks correct but the saddle and retraction spring arrangement are still not the same.
