Blackhawk/Weaver Jack score

I recently started working at a new shop with my previous boss. The shop building previously had another automotive business in it. They left a bunch of stuff as they also own the building next door and are still using it. They were going to clear out this back room where they had stashed stuff out of the way that needed some attention. I went poking through it and found a blackhawk and a weaver jack. Both of them work but the casters on the weaver were locked up and the blackhawk cylinder release is broken. The bolts that hold the weavers lower lift arms on are broken. They let me have them as they were just going to haul them to the scrap yard! I also got an old craftsman drill press but the quill is locked up. Anybody know what model either of these are?

Wow. Now, THAT is a score! The Blackhawk may be an S-4. There are a lot of posts about similar looking jacks on here, so a search is worthwhile. I've lusted after one of those for a long time.

The little bump thing you asked about is a headlight(!)

Very nice score!!! posaune is correct, the Blackhawk is an S-4, 4 ton unit. The odd bump at the base is a light assy housing. Replacement parts are pretty much obsolete for all early Blackhawk jacks.

The Weaver jack appears to be a WA-72, 2 ton unit or a WA-73, 4 ton unit. I don't know enough about Weaver models to tell you exactly which one it might be.

I was cleaning up the blackhawk jack last night and found a data tag. It is indeed an S4. I still haven't found a data tag on the weaver. Based in it's construction versus the blackhawk, I'm betting it's the 2 ton model. I did get the rear casters unlocked on the weaver last night as well. I find it kinda funny but I'm really having fun playing around with these old floor jacks. I have a bridgeport mill and a lathe so making some replacement parts shouldn't be a problem. I'm definitely not planning on parting it out being that it works and is about all there. If plans change, I'll let you know Bull.

Hey, even better if you save it. If you can make replacement linkages and wanr to help save the one in my hands give me a holler.

Sorry.. I must have missed this thread.

The weaver appears to be a 4 ton (WA-73), They are always stamped on top of the Hydraulic Unit with the apropriate Model number. You might have to clean a little grime but restassured the stamp is there.

What area of the hydraulic unit is the model number on? I brushed most of it off with a wire brush earlier and didn't see it. It wouldn't have been on the cover for the hydraulics would it? That's missing on this one.

Thanks,
Griff

Nope its stamped on top of the Hydralic Unit (Not a Tag), Never seen a Weaver that didnt have the stamp. Look to the Right of the Release mechanism.

Steve: as far as you know, are the various rods and linkages from this fellow's S-4 going to be the same as mine? I imagine that the answer is yes, but you're the master.

I would Say Yes.. and Alot of the Blackhawk jacks used alot of the same parts. The best thing you can do is just cross reference by Size etc...

Here's some pictures of the broken valve control from the blackhawk jack. I also took a couple of pictures of the old craftsman drill press. It's pretty rough but it was free. It spins fine but the quill is locked up. I'm going to give it to my BIL if I can get it unstuck. He doesn't have drill press at all so he would put it to some use. I'm going to try to machine some replacement parts when I get a chance. It will probably be a couple of weeks before I can get to it. I will take some pictures in progress.
