There are countless sizes, types, and makers (brands). Some of the old stuff is rare and expensive, and some of the old stuff is worthless. Your question is kinda like asking " what is a screwdriver worth", lol. You can do some checking on Ebay to see what different tongs have sold for if you search using the "sold items". As a rule though, the higher quality, good condition, blacksmithing gear is fairly pricey.

If you look at the prices of the quality forged anvils from Peter Wright, Hay Budden, Fisher, etc. you'll see just how pricey it can get. :eyecrazy:

Anywhere between a buck and $10. You can (and will) end up with a ton of tongs, as all have their purpose... Whats worse is when you need a certain shape, and then realize, damn, I can make my own tongs... Having 2 racks and a barrel with even more hanging off the side... well... yeah.

Next is anvils and hammers - you want the best anvil with the most rebound and weight you can muster. And smooth - beware of abused anvils that have been wallered or chipped to death, and ESPECIALLY beware of ASO's.

Hammers the same way. It's a disease, I tell ya... eventually, you'll sell your house, negotiate working part time, and and convince your other half you need to move to the country and buy an old blacksmith shop, "just because".

Best thing to do is to get rid of those tongs, but it's too late. You've been bit. Heh heh heh... Good luck! (Oh, and by the way - the crack CAN be fixed. :D )
