When my garage project gets going I will need to cut about 70 Racedeck tiles, and planned on using my 10" radial arm saw. It has a 64 tooth combination blade in it now. Is that OK? If not, what would you suggest? Thanks.

I am sure Jorgen will chime in. For cutting plastic tiles I like a laminate blade or as a last resort a panel blade. The more teeth the better. That would apply to whatever type of saw you are using.

I prefer a table saw for straight cuts and a jig saw for smaller cuts around various things.

I too would prefer a table saw, but don't have one and don't want to buy one at this point, given that I have the radial arm saw.

Noob here. You mention more teeth is better. Is there any particular tooth count you'd recommend for a table saw blade?

Hi
I personally like the fine tooth blades for a cleaner cut ( like a formica blade) . if I use a table saw, I also place the tiles upside down when I cut...this make for the cleanest cut on the top surface. If I use a circular handsaw, I set it jsut shy of 1/2" to cut ( Tip! if you are cutting along a long wall, I would cut the tiles while they are snapped together...makes for the best clean straight line. )

I used a table saw with the standard blade that came with the saw and my cuts were great. I'd think a bandsaw would work fine. Try cutting a tile with the bottom of the tile facing up and another with the top facing up. Compare the two to see if one cut looks better than the other.

I have not cut floor tiles but I have cut many pieces of vinyl siding which I would assume is pretty similar. I have a table saw and a radial arm saw, but for siding I use the radial arm saw. For the tiles a table saw is probably a better choice. For the vinyl siding I used a plywood blade but I put the blade in backwards. Works super good that way, gives a real nice cut and it won't "grab" like it might if you put the blade in the proper way.

I too used a 12" Sliding Miter Saw, worked great for me, no issues. 60T blade. That is what I recommend to make perfect cuts. A table saw would work too but I prefer the Sliding Miter Saw.

Update: Blade for Cutting Racedeck

The 10" 64 tooth combination blade worked OK on a sample. I got a cheap ($10) ACE Hardware steel 200 tooth plastic/laminate blade. It worked somewhat better and produced a bit less plastic shavings. Neither blade seemed to show any particular difference whether the tile was cut upside down or right side up.

I borrowed my buddy's table saw and used the process outlined by Jorgen.
