I use a 5 gallon shop vac with the fine dust filter bag and it works great. Been using it for about 10 yrs. It is noisy

Craftsman hoses attached with Ferncos to 2 inch threaded DWV couplers. I cut holes in the top of the pail and screwed in the threaded DWV coupler to it. I also used thin birch plywood to reinforce the plastic top. Thats why there are screws in the plastic. I used a 22 degree elbow on the inside of the intake so it shoots at an angle down near the bottom to induce a slight swirl. The exhaust side has a 90 degree elbow to help reduce water splashing from the bottom from entering the vacuum.

I got the relative idea, can someone take a pic of inside their dust bucket when they get a chance? How much water, does the intake pipe extend into it?

Intake in mine does not extend to water. I use about 3 inches of water.
