I bought a ScatBlast bead blaster from TP Products (I might have some of those names not exactly right). I used the cabinet for the first time today and it is really neat. A hot rod buddy and I bought a 70 Chevelle SS and we were working on it this PM. I bead blasted all the bumper supports, hood hinges, and hedders. The glass bead media really does some good work-not nearly as rough as the sand and 'black beauty' aggregate I used in an outside sand blaster previously. It was great not having sand in your ears, hair, etc. The cabinet looks to be of high quality. I am not sure how long the media will last.

I've been using my ScatBlast 960 cabinet for many years. I added on one of the resin extensions and wired in a second light. Also ducted the exhaust from the dust collector out through the wall of the garage. Works great and TP Tools has been most helpful with any questions.

PATOYOTA: Do you buy your media from TP or is there another source? Looks like the freight on that stuff is pretty tough. I am interested in ducting out through my back wall too. Your set up does not have the vacuum bag, right? I bought a material recycler and the vacuum motor upgrade. I can see the need for a second light. How long does the glass media last and how do you know when it is time to change? Do you put an entire bag into the hopper?
Thanks

I bought some glass bead media from Harbor Freight and it has worked just fine. 20 lb was like $19 + tax. You can occasionally find some 20% coupons for them on line. I put the whole bag in at once.

I have an MSC close by, so I usually pick up 50 lb. barrels there and don't have to pay shipping. Check www.msc-direct.com

I'm sure that there are other places you might find the media locally.

You know the media is "worn out" when it just doesn't seem to be cutting like it used to...

I have the material recycler and does have the bag inside the drum. I still wanted to vent the exhaust because I'm sure that there is more fine stuff floating around than the collector can collect.
