Hey Fellas I just got the new ScatBlast 960 hooked up and I'm going to try it out. I read in another post that someone said i should put something like a filter over the back vent hole to keep dust from getting all over the shop. What has been you guys experience . I thought about putting mabey an air conditioner sponge filter over the hole. What do you think? I'm kind of neat freak. I couldn't stand it getting the dust all over my 57 Chevy.

You should connect a vac system to the cabinet. The vent will become an intake air port. Without a vac you will find that the dust will cloud the cabinet and it will be difficult to see while you are blasting. I have a small shop vac connected to my **** Blast, at first I found that the dust was bypassing the vac filter and blowing into my shop. I then purchase a dust cyclone and connected it to the vac and cabinet, this eliminated the dust problem.

The ideal way to vent that cabinet is by using a vacuum and vent the exhaust of the vacuum to the outside through a dryer vent or something similar.

I run another hose from the vac on my 960 outside of the garage. For the vent on the back of the cabinet I just stuck a piece of an old car wash sponge in it.

If you have your '57 Chevy in the same room as your blast cabinet, I can guarantee dust will get on the car
(no matter what dust collector you have).
You need something to **** up the dust from the cabinet. You are pushing a lot of air into it from your air compressor, you need a place for it to come out.
If you don't have the air contained as it comes out.....the dust generated while blasting will also be coming out.

I have one of the vaccuums TP sells for the blast cabinet. I never noticed a dust problem in my old garage. In this garage, I do notice a few bits on the top of the parts washer that is back to back with the blast cabinet from the vent hole. Not a lot and it doesn't travel far...but a little. I figure it can't hurt to make up some sort of filter. (I also need to find a home for the parts washer....)

Even if you're using a crappy wet vac with an extension hose outside (like I am) make sure you vent the cabinet, don't just plug the hole, if you don't you won't be able to see and the dust thats created from media is not good for breathing! I have a redneck setup and I still throw on a dust mask when blasting...

I use a small Cman shop vac to pull the dust out and vent it outside.

Out it comes through the roof, most hink it's the bathroom vent.

mines got a 3hp vacume on it and it has a series of large round vent holes 1.5-2" but ive noticed my media is bouncing out of the holes so im looking to find a way to stop that.

The **** Blast cabinet has the vacuum system with it I was concerned about dust coming out of the back vent hole. I guess after hearing what you guys are telling me I think I will be taking my car out of the garage when I use the cabinet.
