Blasting cabinet abrasive suction

I am in the process of building a sand blasting cabinet, but have been having issues with the abrasives getting sucked into the extraction fan.

The fan is too powerful for my cabinet, so I got a VFD to slow down the extraction rate so that only the dust gets sucked in, but I'm still having a hard time finding the correct solution to cover up the 135 mm inlet so that abrasives that ricochet off the cabinet walls and doors don't get sucked in.

I can't place a filter as those will get clogged pretty much instantly and the idea is to extract the dust to outside my shop.

I asked ChatGPT and it told me to place a perforated steel plate in front of the exhaust port to prevent abrasives from getting sucked in, but as can be seen in the second picture, there is still a gap where the abrasives can fly right into the port without first hitting the plate and falling down.

Should I seal around the perimeter of disc?

Not sure what industrial cabinets use to solve this issue so I thought I'd hear your opinions on the matter.

The opening needs a partially surrounding baffle so the air stream cannot enter directly into the throat of the fan, allowing grit to drop out. What do you have for an air intake opening for the cabinet? If your gloves **** straight out, likely not quite enough.
