Greetings all!

The wife and I have been in the new house nearly a month now, so I figured it was time to start this thread. I'll be using it as a way to keep organized and share progress.

We closed on the home on Feb 3rd and most of our time since then has been spent taking care of the move and setting up the new place. It's been a ton of work but well worth it. It's a tri-level home on nearly an acre with a 2+1 style 3 car garage. Here are some shots I took during our home inspection.

As you can see, the previous owners used the one car stall as a workshop/storage area.

Here is the two car section, and you can see the door to the one car portion that was added.

After our closing, I took a few pictures with everything empty. (The bronco fits!)

Here's the one car stall. The benches were left and while they're not very pretty, it's extremely strong and will suit my needs just fine. This section of the garage has two skylights and some lighting already hung. The work bench is the old counter top prior to the kitchen reno (the new ones are a very bold red that's starting to grow on me).

One the opposite side of the house we have a decent sized shed (maybe 6x10). It will be perfect for storing all of our yard equipment and keeping that clutter out of the garages.

This weekend was the first time I've had a chance to get any real work done in the garage. It's really dirty with lots of cob webs and dust.

Messy garage and one very dirty M3.

I decided to focus on the smaller garage for the day. Here's how it started. The previous owners left a ton of paint that's pretty much useless (either too old or colors we don't like). The shelves were units that were actually in the master bedroom closet. The darker one was junk, so I took it completely apart. The other I may use in some way in the garage.

Half way through...
The previous owners also left that metal shelf unit. It's not pretty, but it's heavy and useful for now.

Here's how it sits now. Eventually I'd like to put a large tool box in this area, but for now this will do.

The goal for this week is to get the two car swept and organized.

A few more from today...

The two car finally cleaned and organized a bit. It's nice to see it as a completely blank canvas.

And two shots I grabbed to prove to my Dad that the Bronco would fit in the one car stall.

Not a lot to update yet, but I have started the process of painting the one car stall.

This was the wall that the PO had some wood storage built in. In general, all the walls in this space were dirty and/or full of holes. I patched and sanded everything so that it will at least look decent once paint is on. I didn't really worry about details like I would inside the house. The long term goal is a garage that looks nice, but is functional. Even just one coat of primer had made it look 100% better.
I haven't yet decided on a color. I'm leaning towards a semi-gloss white on the side walls and maybe something a bit more fun on the back tall wall.

Just noticed this pic did not turn out very well, but you get the idea...

I also picked up some old equipment from my Dad. Nothing fancy, but I may clean them up and throw some paint on them. I'm sure they'll come in handy someday.

Lastly, I had a local company come out and give me an estimate on replacing the garage door opener in the two car and adding one to the one car stall. Seemed like a very fair price for two new belt drive liftmasters, so I may move forward on that front. The current Genie is total **** and not having an opener on the second door is really annoying.

Work has continued over the past few weeks and the one car stall is coming along nicely.

The side walls had a lot of damage and holes, so everything was patched and primed. Side walls got two coats of a semi-gloss white and the back wall a color called 'Wipeout', which I randomly selected. I used the blue on the window as well.

Next week the new openers are getting installed :rocker:

Also put a dry erase board up. I've always wanted one in the garage. Useful for taking notes, writing torque specs and so on.

Lookin good!! I like that blue color. It's nice having the one bay separate so you can get messy/dusty etc.

I'm diggin' those green wheels too:thumbup:

Thanks! Ya, the green wheels always get funny looks on the way to and from the track.
