Blew up my Toro CCR 3650

$134 w/ new head gasket, carb gasket and exhaust gasket.

Surprised me but the crank cleaned up. The odd thing to me is there was needle bearings in the case. It's something else that they use ball bearings for the main bearings.

Loose needle bearings all over inside? Connecting rod bearing at the crankshaft. Pretty normal in two stroke engines.

Was the Lawn-Boy duraforce powered 3650 (older boxy case) or the newer Briggs R-Tech (rounded case) one?

Old boxy case, but still an rtek motor. I put it at mid to late 90's early 2000's production.

Is there a special break-in procedure for the new engine? I would assume that a bit more oil in the fuel could be called for. Do you run dino oil or synthetic? That might affect the break-in process.

I use the non ethanol 50:1 fuel in a can, that is what I had on hand for my echo string trimmer, so that is what I used. I will read the effing manual when I get around to starting it. But I am not sure on a break in procedure

This would be wrong. More oil in the gas would make it run leaner. A lot of people think more oil is better but that is just not true.
