blind bearing removal tools

Hey,
First I am on my phone and not using TapTalk, search doesn't work. I have been looking around at blind bearing removal kits. I know tons of backyard ways but none are working and do not with to do any damage. Going to try heat from a heat gun and I that fails get a kit. I have had several occasions of needing one working on old machines. I have looked at proto etc anyone have a recommendation under 200 bucks ? Please only kits you used no hearsay or anecdotal or other means just kit or tool recommendations.

Snap On has a nice blind bearing puller set. This e-bay auction # 391096987448 would get you set-up very nicely....Ends in 20 hours,

I bought a blind puller kit off of e-bay a couple of years ago and have used it quite a bit, everything from pilot bearings to wheel bearings on bicycles. The cost somewhere between $50 and $125 depending on how many mandrels come with the kit.

They look a lot like that SIR Tools kit but cost a whole lot less....

I've been using the Harbor Freight 95987 for pulling blind bearings and bushings. It has worked very well. I've had it for about 5 years and have had no failures. It's on sale for $69.00 or less if you search for a 20% or 25% off coupon. It comes in a fitted plastic case.

I got one from auto zone it was OEM brand, it seemed nice. I did return it after the job was done though so I can't speak to its longevity. It was part of their loan a tool program so you can try them and keep it if you like it.

I use this kit a couple times a week to pull bearings from the trailing arms and pivot lugs on AH-64s.

Harbor Freight 95987

I have this.

I've used the puller that fits crank pilot bearings.

And I've used the largest one for bearing races. I ran into one it wouldn't pull (welding failed to remove the same race) so I picked up the Kent-Moore tool for that race. On the HF, the threaded adapter is two metric sizes. I couldn't get a ready-made adapter to use the K-M puller with the HF slide. I did already have a 5lb slide (the one that y comes with an axle puller plate and 2/3 jaw arms/ hubs.)

In short, consider the HF 95987 a self-contained kit for lighter duty, smaller stuff. It will do crank pilot bearings. But don't expect to use those pullers with a standard puller, or the weighted slide with other pullers, unless you make your own adapters.

I have rented the OEM branded one from autozone several times, it isn't snap on quality BUt it got what I needed done. They sell it for 160 I think it also has a lifetime warranty.

I have the same one. No complaints here either. Worked very well and not insanely expensive like many other brands.

Ditto what others said, if you don't need it long term AutoZone loans them out. I've used them a handful of times in the past.
