I have a few questions on the process you guys use to apply BLO after electrolysis. A quick brush and hose to remove the carbon, blow dry with compressor wipe down with solvent, apply BLO with a brush. Would that be fine? Maybe a preheat in the oven? Or should I just pressure wash, dry and coat? Should I thin the first coat with thinner?

Aldo: your first method should be fine and i'd maybe wire wheel off anything and avoid putting on solvent before applying BLO.

some guys like to heat their BLO on their cast iron in old smokers or ovens dedicated for that purpose (don't do this in something you cook food to eat in) and i've heard it stinks pretty good, but it does make it shine a bit better.

I personally wipe on BLO with a rag (dispose of in metal bin with lid or hang to air dry outside cause they can self ignite and start a fire) with light coats and maybe 2 to 4 and let it dry in the sun (when we have some) for a day or so in between coats.

brushing is also fine and many members have also painted over the dried BLO later which was really used more to stop flash rusting after the E bath or wire wheeling.

good luck and post up some pics.
