I have a “store-bought” B&T (two double pulleys) from maybe 40-50 years ago (in good shape) with an 80 ft rope attached. After loading one lawn tractor onto my 12 ft utility trailer with a come-along (3 resets) I decided to try the B&T the next time around. It worked fine BUT-I had my wife moving wheel chocks for me every foot or so going up the 4 ft ramp as well as up the slightly inclined trailer. I had no indication that anything would go awry (and it did not) but it made me very uncomfortable to have her behind the operation with me 8 ft in front pulling on the rope.
-I’ve watched several online videos and have not found the exact application I have in mind. Drumroll-my question??? If I anchor a single pulley near the front of the trailer and position myself next to the mower, is there any additional mechanical advantage gained? The “traveling” pulleys of B&T) remain on the mower, the “anchor” pulleys remain cabled to the trailer front but instead of me standing beside them, the single pulley takes my place and I’m pulling from beside the mower 8-10 ft. away from the anchor. Thanks for your valuable experience,
