Looking into getting a building put up, trying to decide Pole barn (wood) vs concrete block. With pole barns I see height isn’t really an issue, how high can you build with block? I’m wanting to do a 16-18ft ceiling height.
With the price of wood and steel right now I’m not so sure. I’d like to price both out and see, but I didn’t think you could go really high with block. If block, will you insulate? I've been doing block lately and quite like it. Dry stacking and surface bonding cement. Plus it looks better to me than plain mortared block. Mine is stem walls with light frame above, and plan to never insulate.
But if you're paying people to build it, I'm sure pole barn is much less expensive, and in general much faster.
Care to elaborate?Big difference in price to build
Need anything special to go up that high, bracing or anything that would make it more complex than if it was a smaller height?properly engineered 18' is no problem .
