Block vs. Wood Framing (Az)

The time has come for me to start building my garage addition (1700sq ft). I am torn between wood and block framing. We have the basic plans drawn up so I can get some estimates. My current house is block with a red brick facade (wood framed behind).

My gut is telling me to stay with block because it would only be technically two walls (South and west walls, side is the house) but I am afraid of the cost because the walls will be 12'. I am not sure if they would have to have huge footings. Also, if I did wood I could do much of the framing myself but I can't do stucco. In the end it comes down to cost. Any input to sway in one the direction on the other would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Josh

Stick with wood framing with a red brick facade to match the house. IMHO, additions need to match the house.

Either way the facade is staying. My concern was the remaining walls (basically building the garage addition like house was built... if that makes sense or just switching the remaining walls (no facade) to either block or stucco. The facade is only on the front facing wall of my house currently.

ICF's with a brick ledge!! Especially if you want it insulated.

Wood framing is the cheapest wall system. Masonry residential construction is pretty much extinct in AZ.

I am finding that out very quickly. Part of me wants to stay with the original style construction of my house and then part of me wants the lesser expensive choice.
