Is there a way to block a member?

I would prefer to not see posts by a certain member. I've seen this option on another forum, is it possible here?

All that's going to happen is you'll see someone else quote a statement and you'll read it anyhow. Just learn to turn off your eyeballs. :p

I have never understood blocking, what could someone say in a online forum that would upset you so much that you can't even read (or skip over) what they have to say.

I don't have anybody on ignore here at GJ but on a few other forums. . . .

Sometimes it's easier just make believe that some people don't exist.

This works! :D

We're all adults here (probably). If you know someone's posts offend you, don't read them----pretty simple. No one forces anyone to visit any online forum. You probably aren't REQUIRED to be here by your boss. If only it were that easy in real, live relationships!

yup, never understood it..
but some never grew up past high school, and only want to read/hear stuff from their cliques..

Life gets mighty boring being around a bunch of yes men..

In an office/work it's ruff at times, but here it's just the written word..
and this forum you can't post subjects that really, get heated..

I find it comical..
Most are not writing scholars,so a post can be taken the wrong way very easily.. without tone of voice and facial expressions..

smilies help, but not always.

I've been around a few years in that time and have had a few on my ignore list and all, except one, have ended up on the banned list. Some post constant drivel and I read most of the time without looking to see whose post it is. Over time some have just proven themselves not worthy. A couple have been on my ignore list because of offensive, to me, avatars.

Click user CP at the top. Scroll down to edit ignore list.

Thanks, found it right after posting.

To all the other commenters, I find the ignore list a great way to clean up my reading. Honestly, this is only for one particular member. His posts tend to hit my button I guess so better not to even be tempted to reply.

Life is short.

Why waste any of it by either reading or scrolling past posts from users who consistently provide neither humor nor correct technical information?:dunno:

Why read the posts of the poison penners who regularly have something insulting or crabby to throw at others?

There is enough stupid stuff in everyday real life. If I could prevent contact or interaction with time wasters, road ragers, addicts, thieves, thugs, telemarketers, people texting while driving and bully boys in real life just by pressing a button I surely would. I would also get rid of Mosquitoes and poisonous spiders and snakes.

This is no different than getting a stone out of my shoe.

Do any of you drink sour milk on the theory that it will make you stronger? I doubt it.:willy_nil

It's a sad thing, but sometime necessary and a good feature to have when nothing else works. I have only needed to do it twice over the past 15 years but was glad for the feature when i did need it. Some people just won't let you be.

I'd love to see your troubleshooting skills. You can make a hell of a leap from little to no information.

I do browse GJ at work and some of the avatars here I have to scroll quickly past as they would not fly in an office environment. Saying "Safe for Work" leaves a lot of gray area.

Some animated avatars are seizure inducing.

Does not just have to be a loop of bouncing boobies. I would not want bouncing boobies at work in a loop. No good will come of that.
